I sat in math class bored as fuck. Everyone was talking to each other and not paying attention to the teacher. He continued on and his voice started to trail off.
My mind ran off to the idea of going to get help. It would be nice to get help, because my body starts to hurt and I hate looking at food now, it reminds me too much of the pain it can cause. I ate nothing at lunch today, if I did then I would have to throw it up in the school bathrooms.
There was a loud thump and everyone looked over to the back left corner of the room. Someone had just knocked their water bottle off the desk when they turned their head to get more comfortable in their nap.
"Sorry. My elbow bumped it."
I smirked and quietly chuckled, along with the rest of the class.
My attention went back to the teacher and I tried really hard to focus. The words were getting blurry and the room started spinning.
A drink. Whenever I have a headache, water helps it be less painful
I slowly raised my hand up and made a little cough. The teacher turned around and stared at me.
"Yes, Miss Blooms?"
"Can I go get a drink of water?"
My voice sounded like it was miles away like it was echoing off a mountain
"Yes, but be quick."
I nodded and quickly got up. I looked at my feet and they looked so long and far away, my vision started to get blurry again and there were black spots everywhere. I blinked and suddenly everything went black.
"Yes. No, she didn't take any drugs! Why would you assume she did that!"
"K-Katie. Please be kind to the d-doctors."
"You're awake! Do you remember what happened?"
"No."
The doctor cleared his throat and Katie whipped her head to him. She glared at him and I grabbed her hand to hopefully calm her down.
"Katie let's let him talk."
She sighed, pulled up a chair and leaned back onto it.
"Ok. So is it ok if you answered some questions for me?"
"Yes."
"Alright. Let's begin.
He asked me many questions. Some about my past, some about my family health and the rest were about the events leading up to my blackout.
"Ok. Thank you. I will be back soon to talk some more."
He smiled at me and walked out of the room.
"Maria. I know why your here."
"I know..."
"I really wanted you to get help before. You need to get it now."
I sighed and laid down. Katie started to pet my head.
"I need you to do it, Katie. You find someone."
She nodded her head, stood up, gave me a small kiss and headed to the door.
"Katie..."
"Yes?"
"I-I love you."
"I love you too."
I closed my eyes and waited till the doctor or Katie came back.
3 hours later
"Ok, so I found a really good psychologist for you. She's got five stars!"
I shrugged my shoulders and looked out the window. I watched all the cars zoom past ours. The children looked so happy playing in the streets with their friends.
We sat in the car for what felt like 15 years but was probably only 10 minutes. Katie slowed down and pulled up into a driveway.
"We're here!"
We both got out and walked up the front steps together.
*DING DONG*
A lady with long straight blonde hair opened the door. She was wearing a flowy see-through white shirt, a black skirt that went to her knees and tan high heels.
"Hi. Are you Ms.Coffee?"
"Yes, that must mean your Katie and Maria."
"Yes. Can we come in?"
"Of course!"
I stepped inside and it smelled like I got punched in the face with fruit. I looked around and the whole decoration of the house is fruit related. Her living room is painted white with lemons all over. The kitchen is painted like a watermelon.
"Wow. You really love fruit, I'm guessing."
"How did you know?!"
She smiled and we all laughed.
5 hours later
"So. I guess we have to call your parents and let them know what's going on."
"Yeah, I guess."
We drove home and got into some comfortable clothes. The whole time I got nervous as each minute passed. Telling my parents that I have Bulimia Nervosa is the worst thing they will hear from me.
"Maria. It's time."
I took a deep breath and walked into the living room with Katie. My hand shaking violently, picked up the phone. Katie grabbed my hand and we both dialled their number.
*beep, beep*
"Hello?"
"Hi, mom. It's Maria."
"Aren't you supposed to be in school right now? You better not be skipping we spent too much money on you for you to be skipping."
"Mom. Quiet for a minute. Is d-dad there?"
"Let me get him."
I heard the phone be put down.
"Ok. You are on the speaker."
"Ok. Mom, Dad. I-I don't know how to say this but...I have Bulimia Nervosa..."
There was silence.
"Please say something."
*beep*
I quickly grabbed the phone and called her again. She immediately pressed the don't button.
"She hung up?"
"Maria. I-I a, so sorry."
Katie pulled me close. How could she hang up on me? I understand if she was silent for a bit, but she could have stayed on the phone.
Katie layed me down so my head is in her lap. She wrapped a blanket around us and put on the last season of The Office. I slowly closed my eyes.
Why did my mother have to be like this?
