I shift in my seat, the chair creaking as I do so. I viciously fish out my headphones and iPod, shoving them onto my ears, trying to block out the horrific sound of crying children.
'We're on the highway to hell' by ACDC starts playing and a smile starts to play with my lips despite my situation, and my foot begins to tap to the beat.
I'm stuck at the airport, waiting for my direct flight to hell that's been delayed by three hours.
Stupid storm.
I look out the large floor to ceiling window of the tarmac, watching as the heavy rain pelts agaist the glass, creating a hollow rhythm.
I sigh and rest my head against the back of the chair, closing my eyes and letting the lyrics wash through me.
Something taps my shoulder and I open my eyes to see Finn standing in front of me with two cups and a smirk plastered on his face.
He holds one of the cups out to me and I eye him for a second, raising an eyebrow. He just grins at me like some weird psychopath and continues to hold the cup out. I roll my eyes and turn my music up louder, trying to block everything out.
I don't think he got the memo because he continues to stand there. I take my headphones off so they hang around my neck and I can still hear the music slightly.
"I don't do coffee." I scrunch up my nose before looking back down at my iPod.
"It's eleven o'clock at night and you look like you're about to pass out." He sighs and I swear I heard a hint of caring in his tone.
My eyes harden and I cross my arms. "Fin, I hate repeating myself but for your sake I think I'm going to have to. I don't do coffee, so back off." I glare at him for a second to make sure it sinks it and I watch as his smile slowly slides off his face.
He shrugs like I didn't saying anything and grabs a seat next to me, placing the coffee he was trying to hand me on the ground. He looks over my shoulder to look at the screen and I lean away from him, giving him a disgusted look.
He looks at me curiously but doesn't come closer.
"Do you mind?" I hiss at him, flipping my chestnut brown hair away from my face.
"I'm supposed to make sure you don't make contact with anyone," he explains, tilting his head to the side. "Just making sure." he glances at the iPod one more time before settling down in his seat, taking a sip of his drink.
I mutter some things that he wouldn't be too impressed to hear and shrink into my seat, putting my head phones back in and blasting the music.
Song after song plays and after an hour I watch as a plane comes into land, and the rain starts to die down.
I sigh and turn my music down a bit, turning to ask Finn something but he's not there.
I frown and look around but he isn't anywhere in the waiting area. I shrug, taking my headphones out and wrapping them around my iPod before grabbing my purse and standing up, heading to the bathroom to make sure I look alright.
I walk down the hallway, my wedges creating a sharp clicking sound every time they hit against the tiles.
I silently pray that no one at the airport listened to the news this morning, because I'd hate for people to recognise me as the 'girl-that-got-deported'.
I find the bathroom around the corner to see a line coming out through the door way and I frown. It's midnight and there's a line for the toilet?
I raise my eyebrow and sashay over to the door way, flipping my hair and shoving past everyone.
"Hey! Back of the line sweetheart!" A middle aged woman calls.
I stop, spinning around to face her, batting my eyelashes. "I don't need the bathroom, just a mirror." I reply curtly and she sends an annoyed glance my way.
I smirk and walk over to a mirror, my skirt swaying around my thighs. I bite back a gasp when I see my reflection. Little, dark rings are painted under my eyes and most of my foundation has come off.I pout and pull out my BB cream and concealer that was in purse, reapplying it and making sure to place an extra amount under my eyes. I quickly blend it out and pull out a tinted red lip gloss and purse my lips before putting it on. I raise an eyebrow at my reflection and pose a few times for good measure. looking better, i walk out of the bathroom, receiving a scathing glance from the woman who yelled at me earlier.
I roll my eyes at her and flip my handbag over my shoulder before gliding across the airport to the waiting area. Finn is standing there with an irritated look on his face, arms crossed.
When he notices me walking over he sends me death glare.
"Where the hell did you go Talisha? I thought you made a dash for it! God, I can't even leave you alone for five minutes!" He pinches the bridge of his nose and let's out a forced breath.
"Okay, firstly, don't call me Talisha." I jab a finger to his chest and rise to my tippy toes in my heels so I'm a tad bit taller than him. "If you do I swear I'll hurt you."
His eyes widen slightly and a hint of fear dances through his sea blue eyes but it's gone as quickly as it came.
"And secondly," I say calmly, returning back to my normal height, "I just went to the bathroom, so settle your kettle." I fold my arms over my chest, matching his pose and raising an eyebrow at him, a sign of a challenge.
A hint of a smile crosses his face and he visibly relaxes. He opens his mouth to say something but he's cut off by an announcement saying that our flight is ready for boarding.
I push past him, not waiting to hear what he has to say and grab my bag before heading over to the gate, leaving the life that I had been comfortable with for the last three years.
