It was a class. Wednesday. Period 7. History. Jeez. Why is history so dull?
I would draw in my notebook, just small doodles of odd figures and critters. The professor continued about how our nation was now. We were talking about the establishment of the IRIS into humanity. Talking about superheroes and whatnot, all that junk took place about 80 to 100 years ago. When they were lawful. I constantly identified it as strange how they were looked upon. At first, they were the gods of our era, and now... they are nothing better than prohibited fugitives. Therefore, I use time drawing instead of moral issues. Then, from nowhere, I felt something hit my head. A scrap of paper tumbled onto my desk from where the impact was made. I glanced up in the individual's path that disturbed me to see Luca Marshal. A companion of mine. One of the few. I quietly smiled as he waved before looking to the front. I would peek down at the paper, untangling the piece of paper. Written in it were the words: "yo, havent seen you all day, why werent you here this morning?" It was true, I had been late to school today because the usual route was destroyed by a superhuman attack. I started to write back when I heard a throat being cleared.
Looking up to the teacher, who had his arms crossed. He nodded his head to the board as he looked at me, tapping it with the small rod in his hand. "Come on, Christopher, Answer the Question. What Caused the government to outlaw the use of Irises?" He asked as he tapped the board one more time. Looking at it, it had a bunch of sentences on it. I quickly skim through it all, only taking me a couple of seconds before my answer.
"Well, Sir, even though the percentage of superhumans was low, and still is, the increase in crime was caused by people with superhuman abilities. Even though superhumans were also superheroes, they ended up causing more trouble than actually fixing it. So, the government established laws to stop this." I answered. The Professor nodded as he looked up to the rest of the class.
"Chris is Correct. The Superhumans didn't adjust to this, though, so the government placed more and more laws..." And I wasn't focusing on what he was saying anymore. I continued to write on the paper before I scrunched up my explanation and tossed it back to Luca as the teacher's back was turned. I looked over at him for a quick second, seeing that he had his resting face. The thing was, his resting face was very deceiving. It was calm and serious at the same time. Not scary serious, but enough to be a little freaky with the polar opposite personality he had. I looked back down to the paper I was doodling on as he would crack his expression with a smile. Soon after, he passed the message back, with the new sentence on it: "I passed my self-defence course. Today we had started stealth attacking and using different items for weapons. I don't understand why you dropped the class."
That was another thing about Luca. He was one of those people passionate about becoming part of the ASH Squad. He always had a vendetta against Superhumans. I couldn't blame him. Not after what-
My train of thought was disrupted by a Loud noise, coming outside the room. An Explosion, almost. Then The Fire alarm. This wasn't that bad. Fires aren't the worst thing that could be happening. But, soon, A different alarm echoed through the school. That familiar warning. One that every student dreaded to hear.
It was a superhuman attack. We would follow the protocol, going under our desks. I would look over at Lucas as he was looking back at me. He had his eyes wide before he pulled out his pen. He held it in his hand like a knife... and that was something the "Marshal" would definitely prepare for. He was an aggressive fucker, but always hid it behind a mask of patience and chill. I was not as calm under pressure as he was. The nervousness was shown through my own shaking hands. But I had the right to. I was the closest to the exit. And any attack that the terrorist made would target me first. Calming down in this situation when a fire AND Superhuman alarm was going through the P.A system wasn't helping. The teacher was under his own desk, hiding. This was terrifying. I heard the Police sirens coming closer from a distance through the open window, but just storming the school wasn't smart. We had to wait for an ASH squad. The fire department's sirens were also out there, but they were just as helpful as the police. As for what type of superhuman was attacking us, I could put the two together. There was some attacker with a fire Iris.
