Thoroughly Confused - Part 2
"So..." Niall concluded. "I was hoping you would protect her from any danger that my people may wish to cause her."
Eric shifted in his seat trying to comprehend the vast amount of information that Niall had just delivered to him.
Involuntarily, he looked over at the beautiful Mina and saw her for what she really was; trouble.
"Let me see if I have this correct, the majority of your people now wish to kill your only daughter, who is fae royalty, and because you wish for her to live you are asking me, a complete stranger and vampire, to look after and protect her from any fae warriors that may come and try to assassinate her and in turn me?" Eric asked pausing slightly. "Or did I miss something?"
"You also have to provide accommodation, food and clothes for her." Niall added cautiously.
Eric starred at him in confusion. He could tell they were holding something back but he didn't want to push him so he sat and tried to silently make a decision on how to proceed.
The logical part of his brain said no. That this was a bad idea and that he would immediately regret. But the better part of his brain, the part he hadn't listened to for centuries told him to take a chance and go for it.
He looked over at Mina, she was very attractive and one of his waitresses had just been killed by Pam so he could give her a job. It wouldn't really be that much of a inconvenience but...
"And what would I get in return?" Eric asked.
"A favour from one of the most powerful people in the supernatural world." Niall replied reluctantly.
Eric knew his eyebrows had shot up in surprise but he couldn't help it.
Fairies were the natural enemies to vampires so giving a powerful vampire, like Eric, a favour from a even more powerful member of the fae royal family, such as Niall, was completely unheard of.
"Why of all the supernatural beings did you ask me?" Eric replied completely confused.
"You are well respected and feared by all. Plus you know my great-granddaughter but not well enough for people to connect the dots and search for you. You are also a vampire and all fairies would assume that I would not put her under the protection of a vampire, especially one as renowned and ruthless as yourself."
Eric tried to digest all of that information. But all he could think was, "Who is you great-granddaughter?"
"Sookie Stackhouse."
Sookie is a fairy? That explained why he was so obsessed with her it was in his genes to be attracted to her more than normal. But surely he would have realised? She can't be. Was Sookie really a fairy?
As if reading his thoughts Niall said, "No, she is one eighth fae, one of my half human sons became involved with Sookie grandmother."
"Does Sookie know?" Eric asked despite the fact he already knew the awnser. Sookie didn't know. If she did she wouldn't have got involved with a vampire.
Niall gave him a annoyed look that blatantly said no.
"Hmmm... I see your logic and I will protect Mina but in return I want a favour from you and a fairy that you will let me kill and drain."
Eric smiled as he said this, he knew Niall would never go for it.
Without hesitation Niall awnsered, "Of course."
Eric tried to hide his obvious surprise and thoughtlessly agreed to look after Mina.
Niall and Eric sat for another hour making arrangements and setting ground rules.
Abruptly, Niall said he had to leave. He walked over to Mina and whispered something in her ear. Eric didn't catch it but he didn't really mind he was still silently trying to make arrangements for the Fairy Princess.
He glanced over at them just in time to see Niall fade into the darkness before his very eyes.
And then he was alone with her.
