Ivy was sitting in Algebra 1, the teacher was rambling on about irrational and rational numbers. She felt that she didn't need to hear the words coming out of her mouth. Then, the teacher suddenly silences when the class phone begins to ring. The class, too silences. The teacher looks annoyed at first, then a cheerful grin was painted across her face. Ivy was confused. What could she be smiling about?
She nods and hangs up the phone. She looks around the room before catching Ivy's eyes. "Your foster parents say that someone is interested in adopting you!" The teacher exclaimed. Ivy slowly kicked her feet at her desk, the feet flowing as they passed each other, because she was too short to reach the floor while sitting in the chairs. She shook her head. There was always someone interested, but no one was actually interested in adopting her. "Miss, I doubt it." She doesn't wait for the teachers response, and looks back down at her worksheet.
Ivy was a short girl, only 4'11. She had long black hair and bright green eyes. She was big on fashion, she would wear sweats with belts and bucket hats, but her favorite was the merchandise from Dream, in 2020. Her favorite hoodie was the black hoodie with the glow in the dark smiling face. It went perfectly with her, black and green, her favorite colors.
Ivy had been drifting into her thoughts rather than doing her work, and before she knew it the bell rang and school was over. She began to freeze up, because now she would meet her potential parents. She sighed remembering all her potential parents. All were uninterested in her. She didn't want to go home early today. She looked around for her friend, Jonathan, and he was packing his bag to go home.
She quietly walked over to him and cleared her throat. He didn't look up, but he acknowledged her. "Yes?" He asked. She had her arms behind her back, and was fidgeting. "Hey, do you think you could walk with me home?" He zips his bag and throws it over his shoulder. He looks at her and sighs. "I thought you had people interested?" He asks, she shakes her head. "I don't think they will want me, and I just need to calm before actually meeting them, and c'mon! Your house is on the way to mine. Please?" He sighs and throws his hand and laughs. "Yeah, c'mon." He gestures for her to follow. "Yes!" She exclaims. "Thank you."
He shakes his head laughing. "You always convince me.. not cool!" She laughs. "Well, you help me to calm down, and then I don't cuss at the potential parents..." Ivy may have had slight anger issues, which caused most of the adopters to not want her. It's not that she didn't want them to adopt her, she just didn't know how to keep a filter on.
They piled out of the school with everyone else, and Ivy threw her hood on. Jonathan pulled it down. "Anxiety, no no not right now." Ivy sighs, "I wish I knew how to get over it." Jonathan holds onto the straps of his back pack and looks down at his feet. She had her hands in her pockets of her hoodie and was also looking down. "So, seriously, do you think they will go through with it? Or do you think it won't happen?" She asks, finally looking up at him. They had looked up at the same time, their eyes meeting each other's gazes. He nods, "Yeah, I do. I think I have a feeling." He smiles. She nods in agreement. "Yeah, I hope so. I really don't want to live with them anymore." She made reference to her foster parents. They didn't abuse her or anything, she just was tired of not actually having parents.
Her biological parents were killed in a fatal car accident. She was in the car with them when the accident happened, and she survived, unharmed, but her parents died almost instantly. She had gotten angry when she had not been harmed at all, and yet her parents payed such a high toll. She didn't understand why it had happened the way it did, but she knew she couldn't change the past.
She looked over at Jonathan. He was way taller than her. He had short black and brown hair. He had bright blue eyes. All the girls had drooled over him, and were jealous of Ivy due to how close she was with him and yet they were not together. She hadn't viewed him in such a way. He was an older brother to her, really, he was the person she would go to when she needed help. He had the best hugs, too, and she would make sure that other girls were jealous when she hugged him. Although being such an annoying stereotype of a person, she was only friends with the boys in her grade. She hadn't gotten along with the other girls due to her relationship with Jonathan, but the boys didn't care, they were chill and always had jokes.
While deep in her thoughts, they had arrived at Jonathan's house. It was quite nice, it had a gray and blue tint and clear and beautiful windows. The grass was perfectly cut, and she just described everything about Jonathan's life as perfect. He held his back pack straps once more and looked at Ivy, awaiting a good bye hug. She set her bag down on the ground beside her, and jumped at him with open arms. He let go of his back pack and also opened his arms in welcome. Their bodies intertwined and Ivy's eyes had aligned with his chest, and he had rested his head upon her head and took in the hug. Now she saw why everyone was jealous of her and questioning.
They pulled away from each other and looked away. Jonathan cleared his throat. "Try to add a filter... Maybe they will be your parents." He smiled and so did she. She nodded. "I... I will try. No promises." She said. "Fair enough... Cya. Good luck." She nodded in response and picked her bag up and walked to her house, a couple doors down from Jonathan's. There was a black Tesla in their driveway. She stared in awh. She had never seen a Tesla in person. She ran up to her door and walked in.
There was her foster parents smiling and talking at the kitchen table. There was a tall man standing in front of them. He had dirty blond hair and had a hoodie on and sweats. Ivy cleared her throat. "Hi." She said as she walked up to them. There, standing was Clay, or otherwise known as Dream. She stared at him in shock. "C-clay? Dream? In our house?" She looked at her parents. "Why is he here?" They looked at each other in confusion. "You know him?" They ask. "Yeah- well, sorta. He's this really famous YouTuber!" She exclaims excitedly. She looks at him and asks again. "Why is he here?" They smile. "He's here to adopt you, Ivy."
