"Your eyes belong to the sky." I gasp at my own words and the sound of awe expressed in them. Not understanding yet understanding at the same time the gravity of my misstep. I back away from him as I realize the inappropriate situation I have put us in.
Greys do not speak with other Greys unless in service to our purpose and we do not enter each others rooms. This is not of my purpose and for that i deserve punishment. I move to leave the room.
"You are leaving?"
I don't turn towards him as shame fills me. I have broken the rules and must be punished. "I will go the infirmary to seek help for you then report to the office my violations."
"No. Please do not report to anyone."
I turn to find him trying to get up from his bed. His face clenched in struggle as groans of pain leave his lips. My immediate instincts have me at his side once again gently pushing him back onto his bed. I get up to leave but stop as his hand reaches out grabbing my wrist.
Blue sky eyes capture my own. "Do not report anything." his grip tighten on my wrist his eyes pleading. "Please."
The conflict inside me is strong. My shame and need to be punished for my violations are at war with this unknown feeling inside me warning me to listen to his request.
The latter wins. I nod in acceptance. I am unsure if his sigh of relief is for my agreeing to his request or in relief of his pain. I turn to leave once again. No grip on my wrist halting me this time. Although as I reach for the door, I do faintly hear, "Your eyes feel like spring."
I am unsure why but the words bring a warm feeling to my chest.
I like it.
