3.The 104th Cadet Corps

A few days after arriving from the walls the refugees were all sent to cultivate food.

"Shut up, will warm ourselves with body heat,.... Now come closer I'm freezing"she said pulling her closer, her face was beat red but it was probably the cold.
But that couldn't prevent a food shortage, the following year the military launched a campaign to retake wall Maria using refugees, there was 250. 000 of them, but only a hundred came back, their sacrifice helped those still alive though not everyone shared the same thoughts.

"You're now all members of the cadet corps unit 104th!"a man yelled stepping out from the shadows " Unfortunately for you, I, Keith Shadis, will be in charge! I don't plan on giving you a warm welcome, some of you are worse than livestock"he continued"For the next three years, I'll train you useless shits. In those three years when you fight a titan will you become food or will you destroy them, its up to you!!"

'God he sounds intense' I thought as he started walking through the crowd stopping in front of a blonde girl.
"Oy little runt... What do they call you!?!" he asked peering down at her
"Armin Arlett from shiganshina" she yelled back using the signature salute
"Arlett what a ridiculous name did you parents give it to you?"
"My grandfather did"
"Arlett why are you here?!?!"
"To help humanity achieve victory" she said, I could see her arm shaking behind her back
"I see that's great we'll feed you to the titans... Thrid row about face"he  grabbed her head and spun her around walking off afterward,he walked up to someone else in my row"What do they call you? "
" Jean Kirscthein form Trost"
"And why are you here?"
"To join the military police and live in the interior!" he replied without shame

"Yes sir" Jean said before Keith head butted him onto the ground.
'God he's got a solid head didn't even flinch'
"Who said you could sit, if you can't handle this you'll never make to the interior" he told him before turning away and walked towards me.
I quickly turned to look ahead'Please don't notice, please don't notice... 'I repeated in my head hoping he'd pass by but he stopped in front of me 'I'm dead, it was a good run everyone'

"What do they call you" he yelled bending down to look me in the eyes
Trying to remain calm I saluted him "(Y/n) (l/n) from Shiganshina, sir"
"(L/n) is it? Another pathetic-good for nothing-name! What are you doing here squirt?"
'What I'm doing here?' I tried thinking back to everything that led to this point in my life, more importantly what to my life away"Ive come to take out the Armored Titan!!" I yelled at him, I could see behind him some shocked faces but he didn't seem impressed   'Or maybe he's only got one expression'

"Setting your sights high huh? Remember to mark your corpse so it's easier to identify" he told me dismissively walking off to break someone else, he grabbed a shave headed boy who screamed like a girl as he was being lifted by the head. "Funny I've never seen a bald girl before" he said before turning his sight o someone else.
I looked towards the same way and standing there I saw the bravest person I've ever seen, there she was standing tall as shadis stared her down so-
"Who are you?!!!" he yelled at her, she shallower whatever she was eating and saluted him with...
'Wait is that a potato? '
"Sasha Braus, from Dauper village"
"What is that in your hand!?!?"
"It's a potato I found it in the kitchen"
"So you stole it and why are you eating it"
"Uh... Are you asking me why people eat potatoes sir?" she looked down at the potato and ripped it in half and offered it to him"Heres half"
'She s given him the side she's already bitten.... Not brave just stupid, sigh'

(A few hours later)
"God she's still going" one of the boys who I now knew was Conny said
"Well he did tell her to run till she dropped, I'm surprised he didn't kill her on the spot" I said from my spot
"Dauper's a small village of hunters, right?" Conny asked outloud but we all ignored him
"What's that?" Eren asked pointing to a carriage leaving
"Dropouts, so people just can't handle it"

"We haven't even started why would they leave?" I asked out load to them
"That's just how it is, the weak don't have a place here... They'd rather pull weeds and plant crops than fight" Eren said
"You know we never heard anything about you, where are you from?"
"I'm from Shiganshina same as this one here" he said grabbing Armin it looked like Armin was going to say something to me but Connie interrupted.
"So that means you where there, did you see it.... The colossal titan?"
"Hey don't go asking that" Marco tried apologising for it

(An Hour later)
Inside the barracks where groups of people chatting with eathother with a big group surrounding Eren's table, not wanting to be in the crowd me and Aoi headed for the back of the room the only table available had two girls already sitting there"Hey, is it alright if we sit here?" I asked one of them
"...... "She just turned to look at me with a closed eye smile....... And didn't say anything.
" So...... Can we?"
"...... "
'This is starting to get awkward' I was about to ask again when the other girl spoke up
"Sure go ahead, just don't start a racket"
"Thanks I'm (y/n), this is Aoi what's your name?"
"I'm Raven" the one who let us sit down said, I turned to the one who didn't speak yet hoping for an answer instead she pulled a coin out her pocket and tossed it into the air before catching it.
"I'm Kanao, it's nice to meet you" she said putting the coin away
I was going to ask her about the coin but a loud argument broke out first, Eren was arguing with a guy from earlier. 'Wasn't he the one who wanted to live in the interior, Jean or something?'Sadly the bell  signaling the end of dinner rang before it got interesting, everyone got up to leave Jean staring at a dark haired girl as she left, Raven, Kanao and Aoi went ahead of me, I finished cleaning up to see Jean wiping his hand of Conny' s back.
"Oi what was that? "
"My faith in others" he said staring at the girl again as she walked away with Eren.
"I understand your pain Jean" I told patting his shoulder
"You do?" he asked
"Yeah she is a looker" I continued walking on taking the bread from dinner with me'Bet she'll be hungry'Rounding the corner I heard a scream and saw potato girl devouring a piece of bread will claiming a small blonde girl was God while a tall brunette look down dismissively. "Oh man I was gonna give her food' turns out my dream was granted as the girl jumped at me stealing the bread and collapsing on my lap.
"So both of you decided to be good people and help her?"
"Well she was exhausted and hadn't eaten..."
"The girl ran for over five hours, the least she could get is some bread"
"Fine whatever" she told me grabbing Sasha arm and hoisting her up.
"I couldve done that myself" I told her having to look up to her, right now I was just at chest height.
"Yeah well this way she'll be in my debt, something I'll one day cash in on" she said before carrying Sasha to the girls barracks.
"You know that was a nice thing to do for her, bringing her food as well" I turned to the small blonde girl from before"Im Christa, what's your name? "she asked me the most blinding goddess smile.
'Potato girl was right, she is a goddess' I thought with a stupid grin. "I'm (y- (y/n)"
"It's nice to meet you (y/n) come on let's head back to the barracks before we get in trouble" she said giving my arm a tug, we walked back I was grinning like an idiot the whole way.
