Tomorrow came and it was time to go on the mission. Nerves couldn't be present, Rylee was doing this as a part of the team which meant no screw up's and no side jobs of beating people up in alleys. She needed to be focused and alert, fully reliant on her abilities.
After she had eaten lunch Tony pulled her aside and led her to one of the lower level conference rooms. He pulled open the door and inside sat the director of SHIELD, Nick Fury. "So you're the one they're telling me about," he said as he spun his chair around and stood up to shake Rylee's hand. His need to be melodramatic was apparent.
Nick didn't know what to say when the team had found a young girl with powers in a seemingly shut down base. He was thrilled to meet her and see her abilities.
"It's an honor to meet you, sir," she said while firmly shaking his hand.
"The honor is all mine,"
They sat down and waited for Natasha to join the three. After a minute she walked into the conference room and began the debrief.
"Here's your target," she slid Rylee a photo of a scientist she knew too well. Her mind flashed to a man giving her treatments, shots, and drugs.
"Adelfried Muller, the scientist," she replied.
"That's the one,"
"He'll be heavily guarded and we're allowing you to use any force necessary to kill him. No civilian casualties is what we're hoping for, at least on your part," Nick chimed in.
"Yes sir,"
After the complete debrief Rylee headed back to her room and found a handwritten invitation to come to the weapons garage from Sam. She happily walked to the elevator, she loved this part of the job. It was similar to getting new makeup or clothes, except these items were dangerous and not given as gifts on holidays to children. The ability to protect oneself while simultaneously having the ability to take a life and alter the world.
Once Rylee reached the garage, Sam was waiting there. He had been tasked with getting Rylee ready with weapons. He had already grabbed two thigh holsters for under the dress. He didn't know what pistol she would want. He knew from experience that Russian can be picky. He offered her the two thigh holsters and walked over to the wall of different pistols. She picked a Russian make and added a suppressor to both.
"Could I get a knife or two?"
"Sure," They walked over to the knife display and she grabbed two the seemed especially slim, they would be easy to hide.
"Do you need anything else?" Sam asked as she was inspecting the knives.
"Knowing Hydra, they'll place SWAT Snipers on the roofs so maybe a sniper rifle or fully-auto assault rifle?"
"Which one would you like?" Sam asked as he opened the unit containing them.
"I'll take a Kilo 141 with a suppressor, and an APX5 Holographic Sight for long-range,"
"Sounds good to me," Sam said as he put together the rifle.
"These will be in your locker tonight for when you leave, okay?" Sam said as he clicked the locker shut and locked it.
