The day of the banquet came by quickly, though you had been away from the market and public areas in general you were able to use some of your lesser abilities to cause chaos and ensure that the king's eye wasn't on you.

The children were behaving and you had been getting everything ready to make sure your eldest son was healthy. The servants had been doing their jobs properly, though there were some that would gossip and speak about your relationship with the king's general, you thought that it couldn't be helped. Rumours began spreading and as suspected, many among the nobility of Sinbad's kingdom as well as merchants, amabassadors and travellers began searching for an opportunity to get close to you and the children.

" I want no visitors in the house. The last thing we need is some madman coming in here and causing trouble. The children will be scared and I won't turn this place into a prison to keep them safe." You told to the head maid of the mansion, asking her to pass down those words to the rest.

When the night slowly embraced Sindria, you dressed Lahan and then yourself. Ashad would be in charge while you were gone and he had been excited for being the leader. Though you knew that picking clothes to impress the king would be a good reason for people to speak ill of you, the chaos that would occur with a little push, could be used to your advantage and make sure things would go your way.

Once you were both ready, a small carriage took you to the palace, Lahan wasn't nervous but he clearly was confident about winning the position.

"The king is a man that can protect himself. I don't understand the reason for a royal guard."

"Lahan, that man cannot be trusted. He is cunning but I know that he wouldn't turn against his people, the reason for creating a royal guard probably serves as a way to show that he trusts his subjects."

"But Mother, can we be sure that he doesn't want something from us?"

"We can't, which is exactly why we need to create a commotion and turn his attention elsewhere." You said and Lahan nodded, he wasn't sure what you had planned in case the king tried something weird but he trusted your judgement.

Once you reached the palace, you were greeted by Ja'far and a man with red hair, dressed in gold armor and with a stoic expression. You knew him as well, his name was Marsur, another ally of Sinbad's who belonged in a race known as the Fanalis. You smiled and walked closer, keeping your head high as you and Lahan approached.

"Greetings, lord Ja'far, lord Masrur. As agreed, my son and I have arrived, hopefully we didn't make the two of you wait too long." You said in a confident yet warm tone, it could give the impression that you were talking to an old friend, showing repsect but not letting them see you as someone below them.

"Don't worry about it, I was the one who suggested the idea of you and your son coming here." Ja'far said with a smile, Masrur glanced at him for a second before he returned his attention to you. He could see through Ja'far's usual polite tone and attitude, his usual smile was for the sole purpose of creating a pleasant atmosphere while keeping distances. But in this case, there was something in the way he spoke, something that showed fondness and joy.

The four of you walked through the hallways until you reached the throne room. Sinbad was sitting with a smile, upon seeing you his smile grew wider and his eyes seemed to spark with mischief.

"I don't like the look in his eyes, mother. It makes me feel like we've done something." Lahan mumbled, not knowing that Marsur was listening.

"We haven't done anything against him or Sindria, he probably wants to kill some time with a lot of teasing." You said and Lahan sighed, he knew that something similar was indeed the case.

"Hey, we meet again!" Sinbad said with a smile, you and Lahan bowed and then looked at the king with a stern, cold expression that sent shivers down the spine of anyone around you.

"Greetings to his majesty, king Sinbad." You said and Ja'far stared at you with awe, he couldn't believe that you could show such an expression, your tone stern, confident but respectfull. Your presence made him think that another monarch was standing next to him.... he was fascinated by your sudden change in attitude.

"Don't be like that. I visited you a while ago, we've had quite a pleasant talk too."

"That doesn't mean forgeting our positions and who has authority over who." You said and Sinbad smiled, he quickly glanced over at Ja'far who was staring at you like a lovestruck puppy. It was clear that his dear friend had a crush on you and that it was getting more severe with every second the two of you were around each other.

"It hurts knowing that such an interesting person sees me as such, we might become friends eventually and this will be a good tale to tell in the future." He said and you chuckled before looking at Sinbad with a small smirk.

"That doesn't really depend on me, your majesty. However, as much as I enjoy a battle of wits, we came here for an entirely different matter. So I would like not to waste more of your and your generals time with such a trivial matter."

Sinbad burst out laughing, calling the chance you were given trivial really earned you points of favor in his book. He really wanted to see what would happen if you and Ja'far got together, it'd certainely be a spectacular show.

"Trust me when I say, your company is anything but a waste of time. As for the matter regarding your son, he is already in after the impression you both left. Though I would like him to have a spar with one of my friends."

At those words you looked at Lahan, his serious expression remaining as he spoke to the king. The voice that echoed was strong, mature and determined, Lahan knew that he wasn't a boy walking around and looking for candy or something similar, he was a man that had to protect his mother and his siblings.

"If that's the kind of test I must pass, then I'll gladly accept and show if I am worth anything."

Sinbad smiled and turned to Marsur, one nod and Lahan was given a sword before both Marsur and Ja'far charged at the boy.
