Ronnie's POV
It was the day the comet was passing over Mystic Falls, and I had the sisterly duty of taking Lucas to the festival that was being held in the Town Square. Elena and Bonnie had asked me to help them pass out flyers with them first, but I was thankful this time to have a reason to not hang out with them. As bad as it sounds, I would honestly rather get face paintings with my little brother then talk about whatever happened with Stefan and Elena yesterday.
The Town Square was unsurprisingly full of people. It was a quiet town. When something as "cool" as this happens, no one was willing to miss out on the experience.
I had never personally seen a comet pass, and I'm sure it would be cool for the first ten seconds, but I know myself. After those ten seconds, I'm going to get bored and I'm gonna want to leave. But for Luke's sake, who's practically jumping at the seams over this comet, I decided to put my own selfish wishes aside.
Lucas was grasping my hand as he pulled me through the crowd of people, searching for something he had yet to clue me in on. I just let him continue pulling me as I looked around for familiar faces. The first friendly face I saw managed to put one on my face, as he always does when I see him.
Mischa was standing behind the hotdog stand, a ridiculous looking hat on his head that was a dead giveaway that he was working there. He was handing someone their food, with his usual easy-going smile and droopy eyes. By a stroke of luck, we connected eyes and I raised my hand, smiling as I waved. I made a mental note to go visit him later tonight since I couldn't now because of Luke dragging me in the opposite direction of the hotdog stand.
"Where are we going?" I finally asked the kid that was shorter than me only by a few inches. It was almost embarrassing that he was almost as tall as me and I was seven years older than him. I had no doubt that in a couple of years, he'll be towering over me.
"Face painting, dummy! We're meeting Posie there, by the way."
"Face painting already? You don't wanna, like, get food first?" I asked, pulling his hand to stop him from running so fast. I gave him a look that told him to slow down.
"I wanna do it now!" Luke whined impatiently, tugging on my hand as he guided me to the booth. I don't think he actually knew where it was, but that he was just leading us around and hoping we ran into it. After all, it was a fairly small square.
We thankfully did find the booth, which had a few volunteers in it and a few kids getting their faces painted. Lucas let go of my hand immediately when we saw Posie standing off to the side of the booth and then dashed off from me to her. I sighed as I trudged towards them, trying to put on my best welcoming smile. "Hey there, butterfly."
The little girl looked away from my brother, giving me a bright smile. "Hey, Ronnie! My brother said that you're a cheerleader. Are you?"
I chuckled lightly at the random question. "Yeah, sadly. Speaking of your brother, is he who you're here with?"
