You're getting married.

Three words that ruined my life. My oh so loving parents betrothed me at the age of seventeen to some guy I don't even know. We met once when we got 'engaged' and the day of our wedding. I'd be stupid to call him ugly, since he was quite attractive.

Weddings, every girl dreams about the day she gets married, the dress, the venue, the cake, her husband. Mine? It was shit, but I still remember it like it happened only weeks ago.

'You look beautiful Jayd.' My best friend Elvera told me.

'El, I'm getting married! To someone who I don't even know!' I complained while she was finishing the final touches on my hair.

'Well he'd be stupid to not like you, I'd be all over you myself.' She said bumping my hip with hers.

'Shut up you lesbian.' I tease and pull on my flats.

'Only for you babe.' She smiled winking at me, 'you can look now.'

I turned to face the mirror and gasped. My dark black hair was put in a wrap around braided updo with a few curled strands falling down. I'd slipped in a pair of contacts instead of my regular glasses, my makeup was the usual. Black eyeliner with a hint of silver liner, slightly pink lips and an even layer of foundation. My dress, it was simple. A short lace up to mid thigh with half sleeves. The white contrasted well with my tanned skin. I'd borrowed El's white flats. I wore a sapphire set of studs, a necklace and bracelet courtesy of my other best friend Tris. Sapphire was my birth stone and she had given this set to me before she left for Juilliard.

'C'mon, it's time.' El said pulling me out the room.

She walked with me into the chapel where I had seen Giorgio for the second time ever. Dare I say this, he looked handsome, wearing black skinny jeans, a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a black tie.

The so called wedding was far from the wedding I dreamed of. We said our vows, signed the papers and we were out.

I didn't even get a goddamn ring for Christ's sake!

El hugged me before I left off with Giorgio.

'Don't cry, you're makeups too expensive for tears. Text me as soon as you get there, okay?'

I nodded before getting in his car.

We were silent the whole ride until we reacted his house.

He lead me inside and said, 'Here's m- our house.'

I filched at his cold tone.

'Decorate it however you want.' He said leading me upstairs.

He pointed to one room, 'That's your room, you have your suitcase in there.'

He pointed to one across from mine, 'This is my room.'

Of course we had separate rooms! What did I expect? Him to fall in love with me?

'Im leaving in an hour, I'll let you settle in.' Giorgio said.

'Where are you going?' I asked, surprised at my small tone of voice.

'Back to the base.' He said and left me in the hall.

Great, if he expects me to be some simple housewife he is so fucking wrong....

It's been almost six years now. I graduated in chemical sciences and pursued my career as a pharmacist. Not once did I use his money or call him, and I never will. I don't need him.
