chapter 17- Roku's Temple

Zuko'sPOV

since our little relaxation day everyone seemed different. But not in a bad way, people seemed cheerful and happy and its all because kasumi. Dont get me wrong i did enjoy it too but since then we have lost track of the avatar and I need to catch up.
I have had hints of the avatar heading to a small village which is where we are heading now.

The village approached in the distance and we banked up. I rode towards the leaders house on my fire rhino, and kicked the door down.
I pinned the elder to the wall.

"Where is the avatar? You better tell or a fire accident may start" I yell with a flame flickering in my other hand.
"He's gone to Avatar Roku's temple" the leader replied, i unhanded him and wondered out.

"So nephew where are we heading now?" uncle asked as he joined me
"To Roku's Temple"

-Time Skip-

It didnt take us long to spot the flying Bison and its passengers, we were hot on their tail. While i ordered the crew to set up the catapult uncle was nagging me about if we enter the fire nations water we would be arrested. But all i want is the avatar.
"Uncle, my goal is to obtain the avatar. Father will understand" i replied ordering the catapults to be ready. I heard uncle mumble something and when i asked what he mumbled he said it was nothing to worry.
My men set the missle on fire and launched the catapult, it missed. I order many more to be launched and they too miss the target. In the distance i can see fire nation ships forming a blockade.

"zuko please turn around. we are still in earth kingdom waters" Uncle pleaded, but i ignored his plead as we headed towards the blockade. As we steamed forward a crew member came up and stated the engine is damaged and need to be repaired soon. I knew if i turned back now i will be showing the fire nation i am weak but id be safe for another day, but i am so close to grabbing the avatar.

"we keep going, follow the avatar" i yelled and our ship chugged past the blockade, and i noticed Commander Zhoa looking down at us. He has let us pass without stopping us.

"Zuko, why did that guy let you pass?" Kasumi asked as she looked back at the blockade, i was wondering the same thing. I know Zhoa hates me and he too wants the avatar so why did he let me pass?
"Prince zuko, Zhoa is probably using you to lead him to the avatar. He knows how much you need this and is using you to his advantage" Uncle said. That made sense since i was a enemy of the fire nation. Then i got an idea

"How can Zhoa follow me if im not on the ship" i said with a grin

"Your silly he wont be able to zuko" Kasumi said

"Exactually, if i take a small boat towards the island and you guys lead him away he can not follow"
Kasumi and Uncle seemed pleased with that plan and i the plan was unleashed.
I headed to Rukos Temple by small boat sneaking my way in. As i climbed up the side of the building i entered a window seeing the entrance to Rokus Chamber. I hear voices coming so i hid behind a pillar.

I heard someone say that to open the door you need the five fire sages, then a familar voice, Sokka, claimed he had a plan. I peared around the pillar to see Sokka placing small bags in the five slots and liting them up.

BOOM!

Aang ran to the door but it did not open. He blasted the door with air bending obviousky in disapointment, but why did he need to be in Roku's Chamber. I debated if i should attack now or wait and maybe i'd have a better chance, if i did attack now i would get my butt kicked so i decided to wait.
Katara mentioned that may they not have got in but it looked like they did.
The gang hid as the Sage called for the others stating that the avatar got inside, seeing a shadow beneath the door. the five sages blasted the door with their fire bending and the massive door opened revealing Aang's winged Lemur. As the gang tied up the sages i took the chance in grabbing Aang.
The sage that helped them called out for Aang.

"Your not going anywhere" i said emerging from the shadows holding Aang.
With this distraction the other 4 sages got free and grabbed the avatars buddies and then they were tied up.
"close the door" i ordered the sages and as the door was closing Aang freed himself and got inside the chamber.

I tried in helping the fire sages in opening the door again but it would not budge.
"Avatar Roku must have locked the door from the inside, he doesn't want any intrusion" a sage stated, so all we could do was wait till he came out.

I approach the tied sage "Why did you help the avatar?" i ask.
"it was once the sages job to help the avatar, and to now it still is to me" he replied
I was about to reply when Commander Zhao approached us.

"Arrest him" he stated as he pointed at myself and soon i was too tied up.
"So did your idea go to plan" Katara smirked the next pillar over, i rolled my eyeAs we waited for Aang to come out i tried to figure a way out of here, A glim of light came from under the door and i dread for what comes next.
The door slammed open and instead of Aang, Avatar Roku was standing infront of the sages. Flames surounding him blasted at everyone causing the chains that bundled me to the pillar melted away. This is my chance to flee as i can always try next time when Zhao isnt here, i slinked away and headed back to my boat.

Upon board Uncle and Kasumi greeted me.
"Did you capture the avatar as planned?" Uncle asked I shook my head and headed into my room.
A knock was coming from my door, i groaned at the noise but the door slowly opens and sighed. Kasumi enters the room.
"Zuko its ok if this plan didnt work, theres always next time" She says as she sits next to me.
"yeah i know, but i felt like i would of succeeded this time" I sighed.

Regaining my honor is a tough thing, and captureing the avatar is deffinatley going to be a hard objective but i know i will get there in the end.
"Yeah thanks Kas, I will capture the avatar maybe not now or next time but soon. And i will continue training" I thank Kasumi with a hug "Now can i um go to sleep im very tired, since i'll be up before the sun trainig".
She bowed and exited the room i climbed into bed knowing one day i will have the avatar in chains and my honor restored.
