Chapter 2: Welcome to Australia, Mate!

“Bea!” Louis looked over at me.  His expression was impossible to read.  I couldn’t tell if he was glad to see me or not.  All I wanted to do was give him a hug and pick up where we had left off before that night.  If I was lucky maybe he wouldn’t even remember.  I doubted it, though.  An event like that wasn’t easy to forget.  Finally he smiled a small but genuine smile.
“Louis!”  I said, hugging him, “I’ve missed you, pop star!” he laughed.  If there was one thing I had succeeded in with our friendship, it was that I could, without fail, make him smile.  I’d missed his laugh, possibly more than I’d missed him.  I could feel my heart flutter a little bit and worried that my previous feelings were coming back.
Louis grabbed Juliette and Rosie’s bags before we made our way out of the airport, chatting along the way.  A dark haired man, whom I assumed was Louis’ security guard, took my and my mother’s bags.  Juliette and Louis were walking a couple meters ahead of me, so I sped up and joined their conversation.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“Well I was debating whether I should get our grandmother a cardboard cutout of myself,” Louis said placing a hand dramatically on his chest while striking a ridiculous pose, “Or a teapot for her birthday.”
“Teapot, definitely a teapot!” Juliette replied.
“But who wouldn’t want to see her only grandson everyday? Especially when he looks like this?” Louis said, striking another outrageous pose.
“I know I wouldn’t!”  I stated with my hand on my hip.
“Me neither!” Juliette said as we linked arms and strutted out to the sidewalk.  We immediately began to laugh.  I remembered a time, a while ago, when Louis was still living in Doncaster.  It was a rainy day, and I was hanging out with Louis and Juliette at their grandmother’s house. I think Juliette and I were around 7, and Louis was 10.  Anyway Louis was making a card for his grandmother’s birthday.  “Let me see!” I pleaded, “You can see my picture, if you let me see yours!”
“I can already see your card!” Louis said, he didn’t really want to be hanging out with Juliette and I.  He was ten, and it was considered completely uncool to be hanging out with seven year old girls.
“No you can’t!” I yelled, as I quickly turned over my paper.
“Fine,” he sighed, “Here you go.”

“Louis!” I giggled, “You can’t give your grandmother a card that says ‘Love your favorite grandchild!’ That’s not very nice!”
“Yeah! And I’m her favorite grandchild!” Juliette interrupted.
I hadn’t realized it in a while, but I really missed those drama-free days.  I realized, to my delight, that I was barely tired even though I’d barely slept at all on the flight.  My energy had been regained as a result of my reunion with Louis.  Louis and I weren’t necessarily back to our previous friendship, but we were definitely getting somewhere.  It almost seemed like he was playing a part, though; like he was covering something up.
“This one is ours!” Louis said pointing to a black Range Rover.  The dark-haired man handed me my bag.
“Thanks so much! I’m Bea, by the way,” I introduced myself with an outstretched hand.
He took it and replied, “Paul, I’m the lads bodyguard, well more of a babysitter, I guess!”
“Well it’s nice to meet you, Paul!” I giggled before climbing into the nice car.  Juliette, Rosie, and I sat in the back, with Louis driving and Adam sitting shotgun.  The adults, Paul included, would lead in another, similar car.

After we passed multiple signs reading: “Welcome to Australia, Mate!” (Wow, some serious creativity right there), we reached our rental.  The house was gorgeous and had an incredible view.  In the front driveway were four, black, convertible land rovers (picture on the side).  I grabbed my bag before rushing into the house with Juliette next to me, and Rosie not far behind.  I opened the door, quickly, to find four boys playing some sort of video game.  “You must be Juliette and Bea,” said Liam.  I wasn’t a major “directioner,” but I had watched all of the X factor for Louis, “Unfortunately I can’t say I know who is who.”
“Well I’m Juliette,” she walked over to the couch, “this is Bea and that...”  she waited for her sister to make an entrance, “Is Rosie.”
“You all have absolutely no resemblance to Louis,” the blond one, Niall, said.
“So we’ve been told,” rosie said before grabbing a controller from Zayn and plopping down on the modern armchair.
“You,” Harry said, pointing to me, “have barely said a word.”
“Erm, I’m just tired.” I replied even though it wasn’t very true.
“Well you better not be too tired!”  Liam stood up, “The lads and I have a full day planned.”
“Yeah go get your suits, we’re going surfing!” Niall also jumped up and walked towards, what I assumed was, his bedroom.
“Niall!” Zayn yelled, “We don’t have time for a snack! We’re about to have lunch!”
“Well I’m going to get changed!” Harry winked at me, “Mind if I show you beautiful ladies around the house?”
“Okay,” I said, giggling, “let me just grab my bag.”
“No, I’ve got it,” Harry said while prying my bag from my hands.  Louis and Adam had entered the house in the middle of our conversation.
“Louis? Where are the adults?”  Rosie asked.
“Oh they’re staying at a resort about twenty minutes away, so it’ll be just us kids for a while!” Louis shrugged.  Then the whole crew began a lengthy tour of the house.

Juliette and I would be sharing the top floor, which was basically a loft with a balcony overlooking the ocean.  The room had a nice, beachy feel.  There were two large, light wood beds with white duvets.  Practically the only light was natural and entered through the windows and skylights that consumed the walls and ceiling.

“I think I’m in love!” Juliette said as she fell back into one of the beds.  I was jealous that Juliette felt so comfortable around the boys that were standing in our room.  Then again she had never been shy which basically shows our polarity.  The two of us were so different, she was outgoing and energetic while I was more shy and held back.

“I’m glad you like it,” Harry said with a frown, “At least some people are happy.”

“Oh shut up, Haz!” Louis said, “Just ignore him! Harry wanted this whole room to himself which is actually ridiculous.”

“Well Harry you’re welcome to sleep in here if you want,” Juliette offered.  I glared at her, this was such a Juliette thing to do, “Bea and I can just share a bed.”

Harry seemed excited at the prospect before Adam said, “Um no.  Anyway we’re leaving now! Get changed quick, so we can go down to the beach!”

“Ugh! Adam you’re no fun!” Juliette said as she unzipped her bag and chose  a bikini, “Goodbyee!”

“What about this one?” I asked, pulling out a tribal print bikini.

“I like it! I think I’ll wear my navy bandeau?”
“I love that one!  Just thought I’d let you know, I’m wearing it tomorrow.”

“Fine as long as you don’t ruin it!” Juliette went to the bathroom to get changed while I stayed near my bed.

“I had my bikini bottoms and was about to change into the top when Harry walked in.

“Um, I think I left my phone..” he trailed off.  My face immediately turned bright red.  Sure there wasn’t anything to see, but I always got awkward in these sort of situations, “You weren’t changing were you?”

“I was in fact!” I pointed to the door, “that’s you’re queue to leave!”

“Well I was thinking I could just stay up here until you’re ready.”

“Harry! I have to change!”

“Precisely my point,” Juliette finally finished changing and walked into the room.

“Ooh what’s going on here?” she said, wiggling her eyebrows.  Harry and I had gotten quite close with him sitting on the bed and me standing right in front of him, “I wasn’t interrupting was I?”

“No, perfect timing actually! Harry you’re welcome to stay!” I quickly grabbed my bikini top and a crop top en route to the bathroom.
