"yes mama. yes. no, not rose gold. yeah they have silver. silver then? okay i got it. bye, ill be home soon."

i hung up the phone on my mother and sighed as i looked down on all the pandora rings infront of me.

i had gotten my mom a pandora bracelet for her birthday two weeks ago and last weekend, her dog bit it up.

so here i am, replacing it with a ring she saw on tv last night.

did i have the money for this? no. but i mean its my mom so you gotta do what you gotta do.

if i told her i was struggling, she would try and work harder to pay MY bills. thats too much on her. when i decided to move out, the responsibility of taking care of myself came with it.

i guess im just a little behind.

"okay so this ring goes from .5 carats to 2.5. what size do you want?", the lady behind the desk asked me.

"uh..the .5 carat..please" , i knew i couldn't afford anything bigger.

"okay! that'll be $399.00. ill be right back with the ring!" she said, walking away. i pulled out my phone and checked the balance on my card.

$297.56

i groaned lowly in frustration. i spent my last paycheck on the light bill and rent. my next paycheck isn't for another week.

i ran my hand through my hair and stood there tryna figure out what i was gonna do now.

i looked the side and saw a girl dressed in baggy all black clothing. she had a black "fuc-12" beanie on her head but i could see some green hair from underneath it.

highlights maybe?

she caught me staring and winked at me before walking over to the back.

it'd be a lie if i didn't admit she was intimidating and beautiful but i knew what ever fantasy i wanted to make up wasn't gonna happen.

the lady came back around with a small velvet bag in her hand, just in time to pull me away from my thoughts.

"ready to pay?" she asked with a smile.

this was gonna be embarrassing

"actually, i cant p-"

*BANG*

suddenly, the store alarms went off. everyone ran out and scrambled as i just stood there like an idiot trying to understand what just happened.

the jewelry store doors pushed open and in walked a group of masked people. all wearing full on black. the same fuc-12 ski masks as the girl who came in before. the cashier dropped the bag on the counter and pushed a red button that was next to the cash register. she then ran out the building from the back.

me being the slow ass person i am, i ran behind the counter at the last minute and hid.

"that was easier than it should've been" , a high pitched female voice said.

"yeah cause they ran out like dumbasses" , spoken by a male voice.

"y'all gon talk until the cops come or take shit so we can dip?", another female spoke, this time in a deeper register.
