A Day to Remember

We dance in the moonlight
Your grip on on my shoulder a bit too tight
Carcasses humming along to the song
That south sung melody that we didn't seem to
Forget just yet

Our wedding where you held me in your arms
Twirled me around as I let out a laugh
Which I meant from the bottom of my heart
I remember that day.

Trembling hands - the cold metal of the ring
Stung against my pale skin
Maybe an engraving of your love or the pain
But I still remember that day.

Flashing camera lights
Vows exchanged and smiles alike
The perfect paradise that held a front
No one told me about what was yet to come.

The day that I am to remember
Even after death do us part
Where my face was stained black and blue
A deed done by your loving hands

But all other saw was a white wedding
Chaste and a joyous day to remember
Where my tears dampened my dress
All for the wrong reasons

Yet we still dance and dance and dance
Your smiles overpowering as a trance
Lulled into the facade that he puts up in front of everyone

Cotton stuffing and lifeless eyes
Dolls and puppets rejoice
For almost everyone seems to buy the act
That we are lovers by choice

A day to remember
The sinister song that played
Killing me softly
We still side step to the rhythm

Above our graves
A never ending cycle
Each lyric condescending and torturous
But it was a day to remember, right?

What a day to remember.
