Gabby POV
I wake up and Conner seems to be gone I wonder where they went I get up and look around for a moment I see a note near a tree stump I open it and it reads 'Dear gabby I went out to go get some supplies and a new outfit so you can blend in better I hope it fits I don't wanna have to go back to town twice I'm lazy lol anyway see you in a bit' hmm I wonder what I should do while I wait I put the note back down and I see a book near Connor's sleeping bag it says "the history of the humans" huh well this seems kinda interesting maybe I'll read a few pages I open the book and start on the first page
"After the monsters were sealed away in the mountains the human race began to have peace but sadly it didn't last some humans were desqusted by magic thought that it was dangerous and to wild and unsafe for others by this time period the humans had weapons such as tanks and guns and grenaids" wow this book has really bad spelling it looks like it was written by a 13 year old
(Meanwhile in the void

Back to the story
" then the worst came to pass"
"There was a war the humans magic was strong but the weapons were stronger the war lasted 37 years and almost all of the spellcasters ( magic using people ) were wiped out and the ability to used magic freely was made illegal in fact so was all of magic"
"But some few individuals were gifted with the ability to use magic throughout their bloodlines and when the law hurt them people fought back protests, rallys you name it and after a long hard battle ( 16 years to be specific ) magic was once again legal but sadly there wasn't many people who could still do magic and it eventually died off"
" even thought the ability to use magic was legal that didn't stop people from causing harm to others"
I look on the next page there is an illustration and it shocks me to my core I drop the book my hands are shaking no no no no nonononononono NO I CANT STOP CRYING MAKE IT GO AWAY i keep sobbing still shaking in fear and terror
Connor POV
Oh boy it took a while to get those supplies and that outfit for gabby ( everybody kept stareing at me ) well I can't blame them it's not everyday you see a guy in a cloak looking through the girls section at wallemart "hey gabby I'm bac-!" I look and see her sobbing and shaking in fear I drop the bags and run over to her " Gabby gabby are you ok !?" She dosent respond she just keeps shaking
( alright raise your hand if your getting flashbacks to the sleepover chapter back in book 1 *raises hand* )
" gabby look I need you to talk to me" she keeps shaking but points to a book on the ground near the fire I pick up the book and it shows an illustration wow this must have really upset her

" gabby hey kid eyes on me" she looks up eyes filled to the brim with tears "I'm gonna need you to take a deep breath ok In and out" she takes a breath and calms down a little " hey I got an idea if that book made you so upset how about we burn it getting rid of it forever" I say with a victorious pose she nods and grabs the book making sure not to look at the pages I pick the bags back up and put them near the sleeping bags I walk over to the fire when gabbys standing and she throws the book in the fire and says 2 words "no more" she gives me a hug as a way of saying thanks and I walk over to the bag pulling out the outfit I found and hand it to her "try it on don't worry we can find a place for you to change I may live in the woods but I'm not a monster"

She seems to like the outfit I put it back into the bag and we start walking towards a store gabby stays kinda close to me man the picture must have really upset her I can still see some dried up tears on her face "hey at one of the stores I can see if they have any candy I don't even remember the last time I had junk food" I say joking she gives a little smile and stops "think that store has a bathroom ?" She says quietly "well we'll have to go find out come on !" "Wait ! Almost forgot the mask it turns out that there's some kind of bad sickness and the government needs people to wear a mask I have a spare if you don't like it just wear it for now and I can find a better one inside" I say handing her the mask "no it's fine I like it but I've heard some people aren't wearing masks like there supposed to can you belive it ?"
