The gentle swaying woke Nana up.
Opening her eyes, what she saw looked like the interior of a train. Not like she has ever been on one before, but based on the moving images inside the flat box that her Human likes to see, this should be a train.
Outside the windows were some fluffy clouds drifting by and an endless horizon glowing orange as the sun sets.
"Next station, Cat Island, Cat Island. Please enjoy your stay."
The train stopped with a screech and the doors opened. Although confused about where she was, Nana felt a pulling sensation that compelled her to get off.
Cat island was a small piece of floating land with only a small cabin in the middle. The train platform where Nana stood was at the edge. There was no one and no cats in sight.
"Where is this?..."
After being used to her Human's clutter, this wide expanse of land with nothing, felt deeply uncomfortable to Nana.
She nervously unsheathed her claws and sheathed it back.
Unsheath. Sheath.
Unsheath. Sheath.
Where was she? The last thing she remembered was her Human's warm gentle touch and little droplets of tears, shining like crystals falling gently on her fur.
Suddenly, a flower garden popped up right in front of her. Startled, she jumped high into the air.
"MRRREEEOWW!!"
The garden that appeared was filled with flowers that Nana did not know the names of. They are mostly blue and yellow with some red.
Nana approached the garden and tentatively extended her paws to step on the ground in front of her.
Hmm... nothing is happening. All should be safe.
Walking slowly into the small filed of flowers, Nana plopped herself on her back, looking at the sky which was getting darker.
Maybe this was what her Human called a dream. After her nap, she will be back with her Human again. Her Human will bring her to the park with a lot of flowers then tease her with treats. She will then make her soak in the nice smelling water which she hates. And then they will cuddle up in bed and fall asleep together.
"Nana, Nana! Wake up! Look! Isn't this dress perfect?"
Opening her eyes, Nana saw her Human dressed in a yellow sundress, swinging it around in front of the mirror.
"Meow~"
"I know right? It's simply gorgeous. And it matches your yellow scarf too! Since the weather is perfect as well, let's go to the back garden for a bit!"
After adjusting the yellow scarf around her neck, Nana's Human picked her up and walked to the back of the house. Filled with flowers that the Human's mother had planted, it was their favorite place to hang out together.
While looking at her human lounge in the chair next to her while reading a book, Nana remembered all that had happened before.
At the start of her memory, all Nana remembered was this house which she had always lived in.
A little girl had taken care of her, feeding her, bathing her, playing with her and even collecting her poop.
Although until now she was still unsure of why the girl liked to take her poop.
She had seen the little girl grow to a teenager and then to a lady that she was now.
Sometimes the girl would laugh and play happily, other times she would burst out in anger and quarrel with her parents.
When she cried, Nana would always cuddle with her and lick her tears away.
Eventually, Nana began to call the girl her Human.
Everyday was filled with delicious meals and comfy naps beside her Human. It was so ordinary but so perfect.
After spending a peaceful day with her human, suddenly a sharp pain shot through her body. This was a sensation that she was becoming familiar with recently. Soothing touches caressed her head, taking her attention off the pain. It was so warm and so soft.
Forcing herself to open her eyes, she saw her human up close with a worried expression.
"Nana, how are you feeling? Does it hurt? Don't worry, you will get better soon... You will get better soon."
Ah, her human was crying again.
Her whole body felt so heavy that she couldn't get up to lick her human's tears away.
"Meow..."
Don't cry, Human. What's wrong? If anyone bullied you I will fight with them. So don't cry anymore?
"Meowww."
Her human bit her lips and leaned her head against Nana's body, she could feel her fur getting wet.
Nana's eyelids were getting heavier as a wave of tiredness washed over her.
Don't worry human, I will just take a nap. After I wake up, I will beat up whoever dared to bully you.
"Meeeeoww."
Nana meowed weakly, trying to convey her words to her Human. As she closed her eyes, what accompanied her was the gentle pats that her Human always gave her, lulling her into a deep sleep again.
Wind rustled the flowers around her, tickling Nana to wake up. The sky was now dark, illuminated with countless stars.
It was that moment that she woke up from her nap that she knew that she had left her human. There was also a sense of realisation of where she was and what exactly is Cat Island.
Waking to the edge of the island, Nana plops herself down while looking up at the beautiful shining lights.
She was not too sad but just a little bit lonely as she missed her Human. But deep within her soul, she felt a conviction. A truth, almost.
"Human, I hope you're not sad. Don't worry, I will be waiting here for you until we meet again."
