A train pull up at the station, with the bells ringing, signaling the arrival of another cat.
A few heads popped up and turned to look at the platform but soon returned to what they were doing before. Except for Nana.
Being the first cat who had arrived on the island, Nana had taken up the responsibility of taking the new cats around and helping them to adapt to the surroundings.
Afterall, she knew how insecure she felt when she first arrived here.
Running to the platform, there was a cat with unique spotted patterns and was wearing a coat looking around blankly.
"Hi! I'm Nana! What's your name?"
"Pyoko..."
"Hi Pyoko! How about I bring you around the island?"
Despite looking lost, Pyoko nodded her head without saying anything.
Nana pawed the side of her face. Usually when the cats arrived at the island, they all asked a lot of questions and the questions were usually all the same.
Where is this place? How can I go back? Where is my Human?
Pyoko quietly followed Nana around, as she introduced to him the different places. With each Cat's arrival, the island had expanded, as if to fit the number of cats and providing more places for entertainment and relaxation.
There was the flower patch, the small lake with fishes, a restaurant and even a hot springs now. Compared to the bare island that Nana saw when she arrived, she sometimes cant believe that it's the same place.
As Nana was explaining about the facilities, Pyoko on the other hand was distracted by the strange plants growing near the tree roots.
They were plants that he have never seen before, and it was so tempting to eat them. But what if I get sick again?
My human always get angry whenever I fall sick.
Pyoko remembered that time when he was out on an adventure and found some cute mushrooms. Apparently they were poisoned and he fell ill after going home.
He still remembered his tummy rumbling while his body heated up. His human found him lying down on his own bed not moving and panicked.
His human picked him up in his arms and started running. Before he knew it, he was lying on the cold metal surface with his most hated enemy poking him everywhere with his hands.
Pyoko tried to hiss and bare his fangs at his enemy.
"Pyoko! Behave yourself! Who told you to eat random things again! I have told you so many times not to. So so so so so many times... and yet!!"
Even though his Human was scolding and shouting at him, Pyoko through his blurred vision could still see his human's red eyes as if he would burst out crying at any time.
"Meeowww..."
I know I'm wrong... Don't be angry anymore..
Through many repetition of these, Pyoko recovered well every time. Although it caused his Human a lot of headaches, his Human always took care of him patiently and always patted him softly afterwards.
He would snuggle in his warm embrace and allow his Human to rub his belly as compensation.
"What... are you doing, Pyoko?"
Returning his attention to Nana, Pyoko was already chewing on the weird grass he saw before.
*chew... chew... chew*
"You know there are cat food here which you can eat if you want to right?"
Pyoko nodded. Nana had explained about the restaurant.
"Also, there is a vending machine which gives out snacks and drinks for free."
Pyoko nodded. Yeah, that was quite cool.
"So why..."
Pyoko continued chewing while making eye contact with Nana.
"Umm... Never mind, you do you."
It actually doesn't taste that good. A bit bitter and a bit stale as well. Pyoko swallowed.
Pyoko just couldn't stop himself from going on an adventure. Every time he slipped out of the house, he would travel out of the neighborhood, greeting his neighboring Cats, dogs and birds on the way.
Finding new undiscovered territories was fun. Although he sometimes got chased out of other people's territory.
When he found something interesting, he would want to eat it. But the last time he found this very beautiful flower. Although the color was weird, it was very beautiful for Pyoko.
Instead of eating it, Pyoko took the flower in his mouth and held it gently and carefully. He would gift this to his Human. Maybe his Human will be happy and won't be angry anymore.
The last thing Pyoko remembered was running home eagerly with the flower.
"And here is the small cabin. If there's anything you want, you can ask Fufu over there and it will be delivered to the cabin. You can take anything in the cabin unless it already has a Cat's name on it."
Inside the cozy cabin, Pyoko spotted a lot of different goods. From different canned food to even the black flat hard plastic that his human always liked to play with.
In the corner of a shelf, he saw a notebook and a pen. Picking it up, Pyoko flipped through the empty pages.
Taking it out, he bid Nana bye silently and went to the pavilion that was facing a small waterfall.
Opening the new notebook, he firstly wrote his name and then started:
Dear Human,
Today I discovered a weird plant at the bottom of the tree.
It was growing near the roots and it was something I had never seen before.
Here I tired to draw it out. I wonder if you have seen such a plant before.
It didn't taste very good though.
Next time when I find a good tasting one I will keep it and share some with you!
