(Y/n) POV
I made my way to the location Niki sent me. She asked me out on a date not too long ago, and I was excited for us to spend some time together! She told me not to dress too fancy, so I settled for a medium length white dress. It was simple, but wasn't too casual.
I smiled as I reached my destination, looking up from my phone's GPS. I found myself at a beautiful flower field, all kinds of flowers scattered the land. The most noticeable were the pink tulips. Niki and I both really liked those flowers, so I picked some and placed them delicately into my backpack, planning to make her a flower crown later.
I walked to the picnic basket laid out on the grass, seeing Niki. We both smiled at each other as I sat down. "Hello (Y/n)! Are you excited for our date?" Niki asked me. "Of course!" I responded to her. I took in our surroundings, and saw a beautiful lake in front of us. It was close to sunset, but it was bright enough for us to see. I looked at the picnic setup, seeing what Niki brought for us to eat. She brought some sandwich stuff, along with a variation of drinks. I pulled my backpack and placed it in front of me, digging for the things I brought.
I placed down the strawberries I prepared for us, as well as some peaches. Niki excitedly grabbed one of the peaches, taking a bite. "These are great (y/n)! They're so sweet!" She complimented. I smiled proudly, knowing that I was able to make her smile brighten.
We sat in a comfortable silence for a while, just eating our snacks and enjoying each other's presence. I was nearly done with my sandwich when I remembered the flowers I put in my backpack. I dug through my bag, to Niki's confusion, and pulled out the flowers. Her eyes brightened when she saw the flowers.
"I remembered how you told me you like pink tulips, so I grabbed some to make you a flower crown." I told her. Her confused eyes turned to happy ones, as she too pulled out some flowers. "I had the same idea!" She said, as we laughed at each other. After we finished our food fully, we decided to make our flower crowns. "Let me put on some music." Niki offered, putting on the song Strawberry by Paul Baribeau.
We both hummed along to the song while putting together our flower crowns. It was moments like these that I cherished with Niki most. I looked over to her. Her concentrated face was beautiful, as the sun shined on her, revealing her most amazing features. The way she slightly sticks her tongue out while focusing on putting the flowers together, and the way she smiled every time she put a part of the flower crown together. I admired everything about her.
I think I was staring for too long, because she eventually made eye contact with me. We were both blushing madly, and I was the first to look away. "You look beautiful." I whispered. It was quiet, but still loud enough for her to hear. She let out a small laugh at the shyness from me, but returned the compliment. "You do too. I'm glad we decided to do this." I could hear the smile in her voice. The same smile I fell in love with. The same smile that had such a big impact on my every day. The same smile that made butterflies in my stomach appear. The same smile I wanted to spend the rest of my life seeing.
After a few minutes and about 4 songs later, Niki finished her flower crown. I was still working on mine, due to the situation that happened not that long ago. As I was working on putting the flowers together, I heard the light strum of a guitar. I looked over and saw that Niki pulled out her guitar and started playing the song that was playing on her phone.
I felt at peace. I was happy, and I could tell she was happy too. I could stay like this forever. I took a deep breath, taking in this moment. When I finally finished my flower crown, I walked over to Niki. Her eyes were closed while she played guitar, swaying to the music it made. I smiled at the sight, and placed the flower crown on her head.
The music stopped, and she opened her eyes. She looked up to look me in the eyes and showed me her beautiful smile. I returned it, and sat back down in my original position. She put her guitar away and went to sit next to me, placing the crown she made for me on my head as well. We held hands as we watched the sun go down. It was quiet, but it was comfortable. We watched the lake, seeing the reflection of the sun.
As the final light of day disappeared, I looked over to Niki. We made eye contact, and decided to walk home together. We didn't live with each other, but we lived in the same apartment complex. Since my apartment was on the second floor and hers was on the fourth, she dropped me off first.
I unlocked the door, standing in the door way. We made eye contact one last time, and leaned in for a short sweet kiss. Her lips tasted like strawberry and peaches, causing me to smile into the kiss. We pulled away, and said our final goodbyes.
I shut the door to my apartment after watching Niki walk away to towards the stairs, and slid to the ground. My cat made his way towards me, cuddling up next to me.
I let out a breath and smiled to myself. I reached up to take the flower crown off my head and looked at it, admiring how beautifully Niki put it together. I was in love with this girl, and I knew she was in love with me too. I was so lucky to have met her. I held the flower crown to my chest and slowly drifted off to sleep in front of my door, as I dreamed about our next date.

I actually really liked the way this chapter turned out. This is supposed to be cottage core, and I'm not familiar with the aesthetic, but I felt like I did good with this! It was fun to write.
