An Unusual Crisis

I nearly dropped my glass in shock.  Seriously?  All I had to do was drink my soda?  Instantly I found myself dialing a number into my phone, half expecting it to do something incredibly strange.  But the line worked, and soon enough Frank was on the other end.

“Hey, Andrew?  What’s up?”  Frank groggily answered.

“I uh..  I don’t know exactly...” I answered in a half-frantic tone.  I realized I hadn’t thought out my response very well.

“Hey man, everything okay?”

“Yeah, I mean, I think so.  I don’t know.  Something weird just happened.”

“Yeah?  Like what?”

“Well, everything in my house kinda.. came alive and started to talk to me and stuff.”

“Andr…” Frank began, but I interrupted.

“All my instruments began to play music by themselves, and there was a waterfall flowing from my sink.  And my silverware were in an argument and wanted me to settle it for them, and my door tried to bite me when I left!  And not just that, but fish were swimming out of the drain and into my livingroom!  They were talking to me and jamming to the music.  They thought it was a rave party Frank..”.

“Andrew…”

“A rave party!”

“Andrew!”  He yelled, then became quieter and spoke in an almost chiding manner: “...Andrew?”

“Yeah?” I replied, expecting his response.

“Have you been drinking at all today?”

“No Frank.  I haven’t been drinking.  I haven’t tried any drugs either.  I’m perfectly sober.  This isn’t a prank. I’m not delusional, or maybe I am?  Does a person just snap with no reason?  Everything I saw was, or at least seemed real.  This is serious.  Something really weird is happening, and I don’t know how to stop it.  You’ve gotta believe me.”

“I’m not sure I can quite do that Andrew, to be honest.  This is a lot to to take in.  I know from your voice that you’re not making this up, though.  So I’ll tell ya what, I’m on my way over right now.  Just don’t do anything crazy, okay?”

“Alright...  Hey thanks man, I owe ya one.”

“Yeah yeah, that’s what friends are for, and all that stuff, right?  See ya soon.”
