Sunlight sank deep into the far horizon, and as it departed a milky cream sky rolled in, with sharp clouds that tore through it gracefully. Tree tops were illuminated by the rays of the sun, strengthening the look of the looming treetops and their shimmering leaves; dark shadows cast themselves onto the forest floor, whilst leaving patches of light to seep through the leaves. A breeze pushed the branches back and forth making the forest echo with brushing shrubbery, and raking noises.

A small patch of undergrowth shivered in its place, disturbed by something unlike the wind. Quickly a small gray head emerged from the bushes- it came carrying a small critter in within its maw, then another head exited, this one was a light brown coloring, and it also carried something with it. The two shapes walked side-by-side with not much hurry in their step, though the youngest of the two seemed excited, ecstatically jumping around occasionally. They approached a wall of thick brambles, which eventually lead to a tunnel-like entrance surrounded by the branches of the brambles. The gray feline plunged into the tunnel first, coming out of the other side in flash, while other cat followed behind more slowly.

"Hey, Silentleaf!" A big light gray tom called out to the two she-cats from a little ways away. He approached them quickly, bouncing along as he came. He halted when he was about a rabbit's length away from the light brown she-cat, "We're preparing the sundown patrol, and I wanted to know if you wanted to tag along." his excitement radiated off of him like the rays of the sun.

Silentleaf kept quiet for a little bit, and looked back at the gray she-cat beside her. "Could you take this.." As she spoke in a muffled voice, she dropped the starling and vole that she carried in her jaws onto the floor, "..to the fresh-kill pile, and pick something of your choosing. And do not forget to check if the elders need anything." with that she walked off with the fluffy tomcat towards a small group of cats on the other side of the clearing.

The gray she-cat grabbed the starling and vole and bounded her way over a corner of the clearing. After dropping her prey, she carefully examined a filled prey pile just a tail-length in front of her paws. The scent of fresh-kill wafted into her nostrils making her mouth water; she quickly moved away a plump mouse that sat at the top and found a shrew waiting for her just under it. It wasn't plump like the mouse but she knew that the taste of shrew was what would suit her best. She grabbed the shrew and turned away from the pile, entering the slightly sunlit clearing with the sky shifted between tones of blue, orange, violet and red. Cats were scattered around the grassy clearing sharing tongues, gossiping with one and other, with prey at their paws.

The gray she-cat glanced over the collective of cats, searching for a specific set of pelts. In the far back of the grouped felines she saw a golden pelt that caught her eye, knowing she had found who she looked for. She strolled towards the edge of the brambles as to not disturb the cats at the centre. A few young toms sat a few fox-lengths away from her; a golden pelted tomcat with green eyes, a light gray tom with a light brown stripe along his back, and a dark gray tom with a dim brown stripe that ran along his back. She caught the golden tom's eye, which in turn made him turn his head toward her and greet her with a cheer.

"Hey, Wolfpaw!" His voice was muffled by the prey in his mouth.

Wolfpaw sat down next to him, "Hey, Sunpaw." and greeted the other toms with a smile. Even though she did not say hello with equal enthusiasm she guessed they knew why when they eyed her shrew as she dropped in front of her paws.

"Looks like someone's eating well tonight!" The light gray tom remarked amusingly.

"You bet. I've been waiting to eat a fresh shrew all day."
