Guess what? I am still alive.
Ok-bi.

As promised to Mahima, Chethan did organise a party on account of his company's 32nd anniversary.

Shikhar's eyes scanned the place.  All their business associates, friends, relatives were present, talking and chattering, busy with themselves. Media was strictly banned inside the house.  They crowded outside the hall, flashes almost blinding the eyes, and noise deafening the ears.

Shikhar sighed audibly. The party was so dead. He remembered how parties used to be before Rakshit broke away from them.

He fake smiled often at the guests, wanting nothing other than to leave this shitty party. His eyes flickered to Mahima, who, undoubtedly, had kept her gaze fixed to the door. Waiting for her son. Shikhar knew he won't come. Everybody knew he won't come. Mahima being Mahima, kept on waiting, trying to put up a not-so-anxious face, but failing miserably.

Uttering some formal salutations to whoever approached him, Shikhar looked for the rest of his family.
His broken family.

Finding Sunny was not a big deal. As usual he was rooted to the mini bar counter flirting at random girls.

Simran, Rashi, Twinkle were mixed up in the party. Sometimes clicking their own photos, sometimes posing for the media outside.

Giving Curt nodes to the business associates,he walked over to his bade-papa, who was talking to some employee whom he had never seen. Shikhar sensed something off and thus halted a few feet away from them, listening to their talks.

"Yes sir. That was the time when RS company's business spiked up." The employee spoke to Chetan. "She is indeed a talented girl. All the information about her we could collect are in this file, sir."

Shikhar's brows raised a bit as he understood it  was about Rakshit bhai's company that Bade-papa was talking about. And about some employee of his company.
That's strange.

"Good", Chetan said, taking the file, "any idea why she left the job?"

"No sir. Exactly after one month she resigned from the job and nothing much is known for the reason of her sudden quitting. And she is currently not working."

Chetan rubbed his temple and said after a moment, "This girl, Drishti Sharma, I want her in our company as soon as possible. Send her the appointment letter. She should be placed as the Ass.t Manager,HR department, just like she was in RS Co."

Curiosity was clawing the mind of a confused Shikhar. Just as he was about to go to his bade-papa, his mother interrupted him. "Shiku baby, come and meet my friends" an over excited Ashlesha spoke. Without waiting for his reply, she dragged him from there and Shikhar was stuck between a bunch of 'give-me-gossips-or-I-will-die' aunties.

"Meet my son, Shikhar Shergill, soon to be CEO of Shergill group." Ash spoke proudly while  Shikhar was still wondering over the conversation he just heard.

Why would bade-papa want an ex-employee of RS company to work under him so urgently? Is this to rile up Rakshit Bhai

Tapping his toes on the floor and humming some song, Sayuj waited for Drishti. He had came over to her house but she was not there at the moment. He looked around, his gaze fleeting around the house that he knew like the back of his palms, when Drishti came hopping merrily.

Surprise marring his face at the over happy form of his best friend, he stood up from the couch. Drishti came running and held his shoulders tightly and then jumped around him squealing at the top her lungs. Sayuj too proceeded to squeal but then realising that he had no freaking idea on what the matter was, shut his mouth.

After singing out all her joy, Drishti dropped on the couch, panting. Sayuj waited for her to calm down but the very next second Drishti sprang up and squealed again. "Guess what", she started in a high pitched tone, her voice laced with excitement, "job offer ..... from The Shergill group!"

Sayuj's eyes widened and he crashed his bestie into a bone crashing hug. When realisation dawned, he quickly exclaimed, " Wait. Wait wait wait. Huh? The Shergills offered you job? The Shergills as in Chetan Shergill? Rakshit's dad?"

Drishti nodded.

Sayuj felt something fishy. "Rakshit stopped you from joining any other company from the moment you resigned from RS. He didn't stop you from joining his main rival company?"

"I did wonder that, but then, how can he stop his father? And it does feel murky coz they didn't even invite me for an interview, straight on gave me the job." Drishti fell silent for a moment, but then straightened up immediately. " But who cares? I got a job ... Finally. Time to show some people my worth." She smirked.

" Gosh. You are so evil" Sayuj laughed. Time to celebrate!!!"

Rakshit watched the city rush below, through the glass door of his office. It was late and all the workers had left except for a few. He occasionally took a sip from the drink he had in his hand while a short rain drizzled outside.

The party would be ending soon.
He thought. He didn't care about the shitty party or the people who would come for it.

It was his mother. He very well knew his mother would be waiting for him.
His heart hurt for his mom. But he was adamant as hell so as to not go back to the place which he hated the most.

They broke all knots with him for something he hadn't even had in his wildest dreams. The people whom he trusted himself on, broke all relations with him saying he broke their trust.

And then, just as I thought everything was over, she too left me.

Sorrow, anger and hurt bubbled inside his chest and he clutched the glass in his hand. With every drop of rain gliding down the glass door, he felt as if his heart was being squeezed and blood oozed from it.

"Sir,"

Rakshit turned his neck slightly to see Vinay, who was assigned to spy over Drishti.

"Ms. Sharma is joining the Shergill Group."

Rakshit turned his gaze back to the city view, a smirk creeping on his face.
" Seems like poor father is out of ideas." He took a sip. "And employees too."

Uff! It's been a century since I wrote,right?
*Smiling sheepishly*

If you are still keeping up with this book, God bless you. I will pray for the kind soul you are.
*Wiping proud tears*

Also, I shifted the dialogues from Hindi to English. I am sorry but this is more comfortable.
