Piya glided away from the suffocating guests to a secluded corner, away from gawking eyes. She smiled as Abhay stood beside the cake and glanced towards her. She was glad he allowed her distance from spotlight and didn't ask for her, not that she expected anyway considering his caring behaviour yet aloof nature.
As he cut the cake, she too raised her hands in a slow attempt of clap just to look part of the normal lot.
A fidgeting girl, however, gained her attention. Recognising the girl, Piya walked to her in further deep corner.
"Misha?" Piya called wondering the reason behind change Misha.
Misha turned to her with a startle expression and her eyes darted around to avoid seeing her.
"Nice to see you, Piya." Misha said tightly, a nervous smile slipping on her face.
"Doesn't seem you're happy." Piya crossed her arms, scrutinizing her reaction carefully.
"Wha... What are you talking about?" Misha asked scratching the back of her head.
She was wearing knee length red flowy dress. Something that Piya could never imagine her wearing. Piya might've thought that Misha was forced to wear it by her mother but situation seemed weird. Misha was not even complaining the dress.
"I'm talking about a friend who seemed change and distant from quite some time." Piya answered, noticing the red lipstick and an ounce of extra care on her rest of face and hair
Definitely not against her will.
Then why? That too, Misha?
"Are you in love, Misha?" Piya blurted as soon the thought crossed her mind.
Misha froze at her place.
"I... I..." Misha opened and close her mouth like a fish caught in net.
"OMG, Misha" Piya exclaimed not needing any acceptance anymore. "You're in love."
"Hush, slow." Misha looked around making sure no one was listening them. Everyone was busy with cake though.
"Who's the poor guy?" Piya asked holding her from shoulders.
Misha scrunched her nose at poor word. "He isn't poor guy by any means but a devil."
"And you still love him, oh my." Piya grinned.
"Where is he? What's his name? Is he here tonight? I wanna meet him now." Piya said, searching for anyone particularly interested towards them.
"Slow slow, put some brakes." Misha said at last in her normal self.
"I need details." Piya declared.
"Later." Misha answered.
"No, now." Piya was adamant.
"On Sid party. Can't tell you everything here now can I? Your boyfriend is waiting. So go and eat his cake." Misha pushed her away.
"At least tell me the name."
"I'll introduce you to him on party. Go now." Misha said pushing her away.
Piya sighed. "Fine but I want at least half of the details tomorrow."
______________
Abhay nodded at Piya waiting for him in a corner. As she left for backyard, he excused himself from one of his father's business associate and made his way from the sea of people to the backyard when someone hit him on shoulder.
Abhay wouldn't have cared if not for the unusual intensity and the disgusting stench that hit his nostrils. He paused for a second and then turned his face to the leech.
