It was an ordinary day in Seien. I was studying, rubbing my eyes in a tired motion once in a while. The small eye bags under my eyes were darker than usual. I haven't been getting proper sleep lately due to a big test coming up in my Chemistry class. Suddenly I felt a pair of small hands on my shoulders. Kiyomi smiled brightly at me, so I smiled back. "Do you remember our practice game with Karasuno Cap?" She said. My eyes suddenly widened as the grip of the pencil I was holding tightened. "Wait, that was today?" I looked at her with a dumbfounded expression.
Her expression suddenly turned from happy to extremely annoyed. "How can you forget about today? You're literally the captain Kaishi!" A nervous chuckle escaped my lips, trying not to die in the fury of my friend. She shakes her head and starts closing all my books. "Stop studying for once..you're gonna look like an old grandma by the time we graduate" It felt like a wooden steak pierced my heart right at that moment. Yet, she was telling the truth. "Can we please talk about something that doesn't take away my self esteem?" I said.
Kiyomi started putting away all my books in my bag. I checked the time, and it was about 12pm. "School doesn't end for another hour..I'll promise I'll be at the bus to leave." Kiyomi sighed and handed me my bag. "Alright cap! Cya later "That's the last thing she said to me before running away".
Karasuno p.o.v
An hour passed by like second, my eyes shifting from the teacher to outside the window. My mind kept thinking about today's practice match against Seien Girls High School. Would we really be going against girls competitively now? How annoying..
The bell rang about a minute after and I stood up, grabbing my bags. Yamaguchi came up to my desk and we walked with each other to the gym. I placed down my stuff where nexts to Yams. "Are you excited that we are going against girls Tsukki?" Yamaguchi said. I shrugged my shoulders, grabbing my clothes to go change. "Why would I care? Stop asking dumb questions." Yamaguchi sighed and looked down at the floor. "Gomen Tsukki..". It felt like my eyes were going to roll to the back of my head. I made my way to the back closet area and changed into my gym shorts and shirt. When walking back out the team was already huddled up on the floor going over plays. I sat down in the huddle listening to the coach ramble about this new team.
Coach Takeda suddenly came bursting through the gym doors with a smile on his face. "They are here!" The team suddenly got all excited, I didn't understand why. Another figure entered the room, it was a woman with long black hair wearing a teal tracksuit. She smiled at us all. "Hello team of Karasuno! My name is Coach Hiro, coach of Seien girls volleyball team." Another two figures walked in after them. "The one on the left is our team manager Kim! And finally the taller girl with the curly hair is our captain Iwade! Or call her by her first name Kaishi." I made eye contact with the captain. Her eyes looked restless, yet there was something about her stare that got to me. Kaishi walked up and waved.
"Hello..I'm Iwade Kaishi. Please just call me Kaishi, as you know may know I'm the Captain of Seien." She took the time to yawn quickly. "Sorry if I may seem tired, I need to personally fix my sleep schedule, but I hope you have fun playing against us today.." Her expression suddenly went cold and tense. "Now lets welcome the girls.." A bunch of girls started to make their way into the gym in their practice uniforms. The expressions on each girl were blank. This may be interesting.
Daichi walked up to Kaishi and formally shook her hand. They started to talk about some things, I couldn't tell what they were saying from this distance. The girls from the other team made their way over to us and started some conversations. I let out and sigh, placing a hand on my hip. Daichi came back towards us with a smile on his face. "Alright team! Let's get into playing positions." We all nodded and went to the other side of the court.
