Chapter 3:Princess

"You've been staring at that painting forever Miller." I face Jax. "It's just very eye-catching." Our class had gone on a field trip to the museum.

"You still coming over to work on the essay?"

"Yea why wouldn't I?"

"Umm can we work on it Monday, I'm going to Kristy's." He says with a grin on his face.

Eww

"You're really canceling because of her?"

"We'll be fine if we miss one day."

"Yea whatever." I say with a slight eye roll.

"Don't be sad, we'll have plenty of time to make out."

I hit his arm.

"I meant hang out! Geez!"

I walk away,spotting Jeanie I walk over to her.

"Hey."

"Hey." she says muffled with cookie crumbs falling out of her mouth.

"I though we couldn't eat in here?"

"we can't but I'm hungry." She says nonchalantly with a shrug.

"So are you gonna share or?"

She holds out an arm so I can get a Chip Ahoy cookie, they're the best.

"This is so boring, I'm ready to go home order some food and watch Netflix."

I loop my arm in hers and walk to some other paintings. I stopped to look at this one painting. It was a girl with a mask in her hand that was smiling but on her face was a frown. I feel as though I relate to this. Everyday I try to be strong and happy, I am most of the time but I still never got over the way my dad left. It really made an impact on me. It would to anybody, losing a close parental figure.

I realized I had been staring at this painting a moment too long when Jeanie shook my shoulder and said "Earth to Adley!"

"Yea."

"I was talking and you was just staring at that painting with a weird look on your face."

"Oh, I'm sorry, what were you talking about?"

"I was just saying how dad said he is going to hide all the snacks from me. Pfft! Like I won't find away to get more. He can't stop me."

I laugh. "Yea I think he might need to, you might have a problem." I say jokingly.

"No I don't!"

"Ok whatever you want to tell yourself." I then see Jeanie staring a something pass me.

"Why is he talking to Kristy?"

I turn around to see Jax laughing while Kristy is giggling.

"I don't know?" I say after I turn around.

"And here I was thinking he was one of the good ones." Jeanie says while face palming herself and shaking her head.

"I wouldn't go that far."

"mmh, But didn't he tell people you were dating?"

"Yea, but I doubt anyone would believe it, well Kristy thought something was going one since she threatened me yesterday." I said with annoyance in my voice.

"That's because she feel threatened by you, I think she always have."

"Yea, I don't think so."

Jeanie shrugged."Wanna come over after school."

"Sure."

After school Me and Jeanie walked to her house. We were sitting on her bed with snacks in ours hands while staring at her flat screen tv.
