Chapter one

It was a cold morning. A morning that would change my life forever.

When I woke up, I put on my black bathing suit and heading for the door. My best friend, Ezzy, was waiting for me at the beach, so I had to be quick.

I walked over to where Ezzy told me to meet her and sat down. She was in her sparkly, red and orange bikini top and white jean shorts.

"I like your necklace." Ezzy bubbled when she saw me. I looked down to see that I was wearing a necklace I've never seen before.

"This isn't mine." The necklace was just a cream-coloured seashell on a metal chain. I tried to pull the necklace over my head but it wouldn't come off. My brown and blonde ombré hair was stuck to the chain, so I just left it.

"Daisy, what's happening?" Ezzy said as the cream-coloured seashell turned bright blue. I ripped it off then tossed it my bag. I broke off some off my hair but whatever weird necklace it was, I didn't want to have any part of it.

I was almost done tanning and I was ready for the ocean. I pulled off my sunglasses and placed them in my beach bag. Where the necklace was, nothing was there. I looked down at my neck. The stupid necklace was still stuck on my neck. Whatever. I walked down to the water.

"Daisy!" Some girl called at me.

"Who are you?" I asked her. She had long, wavy red hair and crystal blue eyes.

"Jewel." She smiled brightly. "I'm your guardian. I'm a mermaid, and so are you."

I laughed. Me? A mermaid? That stuff only happens in fairytales.

"So you didn't see your tail yet?" She asked. "Come with me."

No way was I going with a complete stranger to talk to her. Then I looked at her neck. She had the same seashell necklace only instead of a cream-coloured one she had a baby blue necklace.

"Fine." I finally said. She spinner her finger it a circle, then we disappeared.
