The fire crackled, suggesting someone was at home. She softly closed the door to the Salvatore's home, placing her coat on a clothing rack by the door. Since her parents left town after her graduation, Y/N took up residency at the Salvatore home. However, she hasn't been around since Stefan turned his humanity off, As Damon didn't want to risk Stefan hurting her or anyone else?. Y/N had to go home and sleep in her bed so she could get some decent sleep.

She had come back from a night-out with Kai who has been her boyfriend for a year and a half now, Y/N begged Damon not to kill Kai because she was so deeply in love with him, and if Damon killed him, he would kill Y/N with him. Kai dropped her off after much debate about how unsafe it was for her to go on her own and with one of her signature puppy dog eyes and her shimmering bottom lip, he gave in.
She started to head to the living room, stopping dead in her tracks when she saw the vampire casually lounging on the chair, a glass of bourbon in his left hand, and dry blood all over his shirt. Y/N gulped down her anxiety, and let out an accidental loud sigh. He smirked at his lap and looked up, looking at Y/N as if she were a piece of meat, literally. "Typical, typical. Little Y/N doesn't listen to Damon, that my friend is going to get you killed..." his eyes locked on hers as he took a swig of his bourbon.

"You're the one who told me not to listen to Damon, my friend" she huffed mimicking his tone, rolling her bottom lip between her teeth. He smiled, cocking his head to the side and drumming his fingers against the fragile glass. "You're not going to hurt me Stefan because I am your friend, you would never hurt me," she tried to reason with him, trying to be gentle. He sighed, standing up and placing the drink on the coffee table.
"You're right, I wouldn't hurt you, but I'm not exactly the lump of regret I make myself to be. My humanity is off-" he moved his fingers as if he was turning off a light switch "-and your precious boyfriend Kai isn't here to protect you..." he licked his lips at the realization that she was alone. "Maybe you should listen to Damon instead and not me," he snarled, black veins showing underneath his eyes with his fangs now showing.
"S-Stefan, huh?" She whimpered, remembering the mistake she had made. She started going back as he flashed towards her. He caught her, and he was about to sink his fangs into her pulsating throat when he was thrown back into the fireplace. Her unfamiliar savior let out a great breath of air.

"I don't believe it's appropriate to feed on my girlfriend, Stefan," Kai said with a smirk tugging his mouth. Y/N let out a sigh that she did not know she was holding. "Go to the car, Y/N, I need to have a few words with the young Salvatore here". He said, shaking his head in the direction of the wounded Stefan, She shook her head, this time not arguing with him. She clenched his hand and nearly raced to the car, weeping and shaking with terror.
Using his magic to make him cough on nothing, Kai flashed to Stefan. Kai was outraged, How dare anybody think they can touch his girl in any way let alone hurt her. His body rumbled with anger, his hands shook veraciously. Then he slammed Stefan against the wall behind the sofa, creating cracks from the impact of an abrupt landing by Stefan. "How dare you lay your hand on Y/N! You piece of filth!" He growled, revealing his fangs. Stefan smirked feeling his hands repaired themselves.
"Y/N is nothing but a delicious little bag of blood. How long will it be before you give in to your desires? She's about as delicious as she looks, I imagine". He smirked, taking Kai off guard obviously. Stefan flashed to Kai, embracing this opportunity, his hand about to burst through the skin that shielded his heart. However, Kai was faster and snapped Stefan's neck with his magic. He let out a breath, leaned over Stefan, cocked his head to the side, and grinned at the sight.

"Touch her again, humanity on or not, you're dead," he patted Stefan's shoulder. He turned towards the doorway of the living room and found Y/N standing there, tears rippling down her cheeks. He sighed and flashed to her with his thumbs wiping her tears. "I thought I ordered you to get in the car, princess?" He asked, the concern laced in every word.
"I was but I heard a loud bang, and—" her voice broke. She screwed her eyes tightly to restrain herself, "-I came in and saw him reach out to your heart. I know you got him, but... but what if he did it?". The last part was barely audible when all she could think was that Kai was dead. He shook his head, dropping his head to interlock his lips. It was a loving embrace, her hand-knotting in her hair. They pulled apart, all of them slightly out of breath. "Can we get the heck out of here?" She asked me.
He shook his head and took her to his car. The trip back was quiet, aside from the odd whimper that escaped Y/N lips. She was still healing from the past, but one thing was sticking in Kai's head. How much longer are you going to cave into your desires? He clenched the steering wheel a lot harder, his knuckles turned white. He grew nervous at the idea because he had always been afraid that he might unintentionally hurt her.
He begged and pleaded with Damon to help him restrain his desire so that he would not unintentionally hurt her in a moment of unpredictable hunger. Y/N had always believed he wasn't going to hurt her, but he didn't trust himself. They came to his place, which was a lot closer to the city and a lot farther away from Stefan. Y/N heard Kai and Stefan's chat, which explained why he was so tense. She heard of his tendency not to believe himself.
They lay in bed, her arms clenched tightly around his torso. "I heard what Stefan said to you but I don't want you to listen to him. I-" she rolled to the top of him, looking him in the eyes,"-know that you can fight the desires, way better than him. I believe in you and I trust you with my entire heart". "I love you so much," Kai said back she smiled, leaning in and hugging him his palms winding around her waist.
At that moment, he wished this could be his forever. Finally, he had someone who trusted in him. He loved her so much that he would always shield Y/N from any hurt and the truth of the supernatural universe. He will finally have his happy ever after, after all those years of being forced out and labeled an abomination. He's met someone that likes him and trusts in him. This was his forever, he couldn't waste it.
