2-The Fors Factorum

When I arrived at the den I didn't expect that scenary. Randall was on the floor with the dead body of Kepler, he was trying to take all the blood he could

'Randall, what's happened?'
'For the spell we need the blood of a witch, that's why we did it wrong'
'You killed Kepler Randall!'
'So? She won't be missed'
'No Randall, you'don't understand! If the council finds out they will kill us, or worse' I said the last part almost whispering
'Worse? What can be worse?'
'They could kill even Vera, she invited us in the order and now that she is powerless...shit!'
'what do you mean?'
'Nothing'
'She lost her magic?Oh god, now we are so fucked!'
'Yeah Randall, we are. I have to tell her about this'
'No, you can't. I think that she don't need another bad news'
'You're right, but I will tell her, sooner or later. Can you take care of it yourself? I need to return to the temple, I'can't leave her alone now'
'Yeah of course, I'll call you if I need something'

With that I left the den and I went again to the temple. When I entered in Vera's office she was looking at many books, she was so concentrated that she didn't heard me, I walked behind her and moved a lock of her hair behind her ear

'What are you doing here, mr Duke?'
'I have to protect you now, you are too vulnerable'
'I don't need your protection acolyte'
'Vera, don't push me away, you don't have any reason'
'You can leave now'
'What are you searching?'
'That's none of your business'
'Grand Magus, I want to help, I'm still your acolyte'
'Okay, then you have to search an incantation to kill the praxis, all of them'
'Vera, what are you talking about? You can't just kill all of them, many of them are innocent'
'Do it or leave acolyte, and it's Grand Magus'
'From when? Because one hour ago you were still Vera to me'
'I take it as a "leave", you're dismissed acolyte'
'I'm not gonna leave you, but you have to trust me. You have to stop pushing every person that cares about you, you will end up alone'
'No one cares about me and maybe that's what I want. Do you really think that I want someone with me? Someone like you? I don't care about anyone, keep it in mind'
'Ok, if that's what you want Grand Magus...'

I turn around and begin to walk away, I wasn't going to leave, but I needed to get some air. I got out of the temple and I sit down on a bench, I didn't know what to do, maybe she was right, I should have left, but how could I leave her like that, now that she was so broken.
After some time I return inside, I felt that something was wrong. I was going to Vera's office when I saw Alyssa and Jack in front of the door 

'What are you doing here?'
'We need the fors factorum, she must give it to us'
'She won't'
'Then you'll convince her, if not she'll never see her magic again and the world will end'

I decided to go in before them to try to convince her, she was still looking at those book. I hesitated because I didn't want to upset her again. I took a step closer and she looked at me for the first time in that day. It wasn't like always, she didn't look at me with that light in her eyes, she was lost, I could see it in her look. We keep the eye contact for a little, then she broke it and she returned to her books

'Vera, I have something to tell you'
'Talk, acolyte'
'There are Jack and Alyssa behind the door, they want to negotiate'
'I won't negotiate with them, you can go and tell them'
'You have to give her the Fors Factorum if you want you're magic back'
'I can't'
'Why? I thought that you would have done anything'
'Yes, apart from this'
'But, I read, this is a spell that allows to not pay the price'
'It's not that easy, you may not pay it in that moment, but then you pay it for life. It's just temporary'
'You did it, right?'
'Yes and it didn't end well'
'What happened?'
'I don't wanna talk about it'
'Vera, you can trust me'
'Really? I trasted you and you betrayed me.I can't trust you because you trust more of someone else'
'You know that I can't leave my pack, I'm still their leader, but that doesn't mean that I don't trust, or care, about you. You can understand me, this is like the order for you'
'It's not like that, I don't trust anyone in this order. I thought that you were the only reliable here, but apparently I was wrong'
'We will talk about this later, now you have to give her the Fors Factorum if you don't want the world to end'

with that last sentence I finally convinced her. We opened the door and went to them with the fors factorum. I saw that she wasn't very sure about giving it to them, but it had to be done. Jack stayed next to Alyssa and, despite Vera's vain request to live, I stayed with her.
Vera started to tell Alyssa what to do, then she began the spell. A light start to come out of the Fors Factorum. I immediately stood in front of Vera to protect her from whatever was about to happen, then a strong energy hit us, and we all fell on the floor. I catch Vera before she hit the floor. For a moment we were all stunned and I lost sight of her and when I opened my eyes she was no longer beside me. I looked around me and I saw her between the paws of Midnight.
