Noah's POV
The air was swelteringly hot, a faint haze could be seen as I scanned the vast expanse of the runway. I dropped my awkward black travel bag at my feet. The jet which I had arrived on was already turning round behind me, ready to take off again. Sweat clung to the back of my neck and I wiped it with my sleeve only half aware that it made no difference.
I had been hot and bothered on the flight here and it clearly wasn't going to change. Boston had been warm but here in Detroit it was beyond hot! I had half a mind to just take my shirt off and cool off but I was expecting professional company, not the sort that tolerated that kind of behavior.
speaking of which a black SUV came rolling to a stop in front of me. It had come form the main airfield judging by the tires which were covered in white chalk. the passenger door swung open and I saw a familiar face beam out at me from the driver's seat.
"You coming or are you going to stay out there a little longer?" I waved and slung my bag onto my shoulder waking the short distance to the car. I threw my bag into the back and heard loud protests as it hit the occupants of the back seats. I smirked though they would find a way to get me back.
I slid quietly into my seat in the front trying to hid my smile as Dean, Eliot and Tristan hurled insults and death glares at the back of my head.
"How you been doing?" Luke asked clapping me on the back, also ignoring the children in the back seats. I smiled broadly it had been a while since I'd seen him. He then put the key in the ignition and started the car up.
"Yeh not bad, you?" I said as we started to make our way off of the runway. By now the others had all calmed down and were now talking quietly in the back.
"It's been good, I had some time off, went back to see some family." He stated keeping his eyes ahead looking out for the exit signs. We sat silently for a few minutes neither of us really knowing what to say. That is until Tristan decided to spring upon us a twenty questions game. Of all the games, this was his favorite by far!
"Err, would you date Luke if he was the last person on earth?" Tristan asked mischievously directing the question at me. I gulped, Luke was my best mate, just a best mate? Probably? Thankfully Elliot was the one to come to my recue.
"If Dean was the last person on earth, then Noah would be dead, so he wouldn't be able to date." Tristan looked defeated and stopped playing after that, thank goodness.
It takes us a while to get off of the Runway finally making it to the gates, Luke flashed his badge to the official looking guard who came over to us. Sometimes it was nice to have that extra authority, they didn't even search us before we left with the gates closing mechanically behind us.
The drive to headquarters was dull. The drive to headquarters was long. the drive to headquarters was filled with a running commentary from Tristan of what he could see out of the left hand window. In the end it was Dean who snapped.
"Tristan I swear if you say another word for the rest of this trip I will shoot you!" I had to admit Dean certainly had a way with words, probably from his time spent as an FBI agent before he joined our organization about eight years ago, like us he had started young.
The rest of the journey was silent. In the end I gave in and turned on the radio. Big mistake, the first thing that came on was probably the worst song in existence, fun by pit bull! Tristan immediately started to dance in the back which left Luke and I only seconds to turn it off before Dean got out his gun.
Thankfully though as everyone relaxed again the tall grey building that was headquarters loomed out in front of us and Luke took the twisting side roads which eventually led us to the parking bay at the back of the building.
