All I felt was pain. My head felt like it was splitting into two pieces. I was drowning in an open Ocean. It was calm and rough all at once. I could feel the waves engulf me only, not letting me up long enough for a real breath. The smell of salt and fresh air taunted my nose, I could almost breathe in the scent but another wave washed over my head. All I could see was grey skys and the faded light of the blocked sun. I reached for the air, but all I could was sink further and let the waves wash over me. The ocean swallowed me whole, and I never got to meet my mystery cowboy... I never got to know who I was... Who I am...
I jerked out of my nightmare and sat straight up. My head was spinning and my lungs burned. My hand automatically flung to my racing heart. As I sat there, stunned from my odd dream, I tried to slow my breathing back to normal. After a few minutes my heart had slowed and so had my erratic breathing. I looked up from the odd colored blankets on my lower body.
"These arent mine... These are silk..." I whispered to myself.
As I looked at the silky brown material, I realized we never had anything like this at the house. Dad didn't even own anything with silk, let alone brown colored. I looked up to see what else was out of place. I could see to the left of me there was a rustic fire place. It was so cozy, a little fire burned inside it.
'What ... where am I?"
From the fire place I looked around to see this wasn't a living room, but a sitting room. It was so rustic and cozy. I was lying on a leather couch against the left wall. Two double doors sat on the right to the snug couch. Near the center of the room by the fireplace was four dark brown leather chairs and a small, round coffee table fit for this darkened room. In the center of the room sat a large dark polished table and six chairs that looked victorian styled. On the far wall was bookshelves covered with all kinds of books. But what intrigued me most was that I caught the scent of old books and whiskey.
Slowly I untangled myself from the warm blankets laid on top of me, putting my legs on the floor testing their strength. As I slowly stood I took a few steps forward. Feeling my legs won't drop me, I walked over to the book shelves.
The books were old, extremely old. As I examined the books, something caught my attention. It was a copy of all the Beautiful Creatures novels by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, and next to them was all of the Tiger's Curse Novels by Colleen Houck, and then there was a copy of The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. More of my favourite books next to them. This library has a copy of all the books I've ever owned.
Looking up I could see a balcony circled around the upper half of this huge room, with more bookshelves. My gaze followed the perch around the room to find that their was spiral stairs on either side of the doors that lead up to the collection of books. It shocked me to see such a beautiful room, like something from my own dreams.
I couldn't help myself, I looked around the room. It was like the room I designed in my journal. The room was dark because of the little fire, but the dark brown walls gave off a sense of comfort that I last felt when I was in the swamp.
"Wait, the swamp!" I cried out.
I forgot about the swamp. I wanted to stay in this room, but I needed to know where the hell I was. I turned around to see my stuff laying on the large table. I hurried over to the table, ripping open my small bag. I search frantically for my journal, and as I searched, it's right in the place I put it when I ran from the house. As I put everything back into my bag, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye.
"My clothes..."
The clothes I was wearing in the swamp last night were cleaned and folded. I looked down to see I was in my huge t-shirt and my mini shorts. I was hoping to see my pendant Jackson got me, but it was gone.
