The more he tells me to stay away, to more I wanna be around him. He's been getting a lot of letters recently, but I'm not sure who they're from. He seems more stressed than usual.

The day drug along like it was never going to end. I had just gotten out of transfiguration, now heading to Snape's office for detention. Lord knows what he had in store. Harry told me that he would normally have detention with Hagrid and that he wasn't sure why I got Snape, but it beats me, Dumbledore was full of surprises here recently. I walked past the potions room before colliding with a teacher, who just so happened to be Professor Snape.
"There you are. You're 10 minutes late." He snarled, whipping his robe around as he entered his office again. I chose not to speak, afraid that if I said the wrong thing I would land myself into another session of detention with him. Malfoy was standing behind his desk, looking at every little thing he had placed on his shelves. "Alright Mr. Malfoy, Ms. Young. You two are going to help me with the potion room. Today's lesson was.. interesting, and it's much messier than I would like it. Go ahead and start while I finish here." He spoke as he sat down to a large stack of papers on his desk. Yeah, might as well said 'do it yourselves'. I thought. This was the last thing I need right now.
I left his office before Malfoy could finish skimming over all of Snape's belongings, entering the empty classroom beside it. The room was covered in bits of broken glass and peppermint flower heads, little piles of moon dust scattered around. I found an open book that read Amortentia and a list of ingredients for the potions. I had never heard of it, so I scanned the pages, reading:
The strongest love potion in existence, Amortentia is considered to be both powerful and dangerous. While it is impossible to manufacture actual love, one must not underestimate the deep infatuation created by this potion...
Another singular characteristic of this potion is its adaptive scent, which will alter to appeal to the preferences of whomever inhales the aroma."Alter to one's preferences.." I mumbled. I was fascinated. This was obviously something they wouldn't teach to a first year. I read that the potion itself shows a spiral steam pattern when brewed, so I searched around the room, looking to see if I could find one. I scanned for a moment until I saw a small cauldron on the Professor's desk, the spiral from the book coming from it. I ran up and examined it. It was amazing. The pearly sheen and the amazing smell. Wait. The smell. The book said it would adapt to one's preferences. I took a few sniffs before I realized. Sour apples and dark oak. The scent I've been smelling for years now. My attention to the potion was broken when Malfoy entered the room, tapping his foot when he stopped.
"Snooping around are we?" He muttered, arms crossed.
"You have detention too. I wasn't just gonna start without you just for me to do all the work." I snapped, looking back at the potion before me. "Have you ever heard of an amortentia?" I asked calmly, staring at the cauldron.
"My mother told me about them when I was younger, but I've never seen one. They are said to be-"
"The strongest love potions around..." I butted in, locking eyes with him. His cheeks turned a noticeable pink color due to his pale skin, him breaking the contact and pulling his wand out.
"Scourgify!" He spoke, the mess on the table disappearing. He started yelling out the spell at every table, the mess disappearing one by one, until all that was left was the shattered glass on the floor.
"You really do know everything don't you?" I spoke, sarcasm lingering in my voice.
"Some, but I just wanted to get the job done so I can leave. I wasn't joking when I said to stay away from me." I can sense tension, his voice sounded a little hurt. The visions of the letters he's been receiving flew into my head, my mouth moving before I could stop.
"Why do you get so many letters?" I asked, his eyes snapping up to meet mine at the question.
"How do you know about those."
"When I sleep... I see you. I don't know why, or how. I see you pace and talk to yourself. I'm not able to hear the words though..." he sighed, his hands rubbing his face.
"I thought I was just going mad when I saw you.. and they're from my father. He knows your here, he constantly sends me letters to tell me to stay away. He's the reason I've been avoiding you." He admitted, turning around so I couldn't see his face. "My mother isn't so opposed to the thought of it, but my father forbids it. Says that dirty blood and pure don't mix."
"He's right.. but that doesn't mean he should dictate your life..." I spoke softly. He didn't respond. After some silence, he placed his wand back into his robe and walked to the door.
"By the way. It's dandelions and fresh pastries." He smirked before leaving the room. It took a moment for me to realize what he meant, my eyes widening as the butterflies took over my stomach. I felt this was too good to be true, but I didn't know what to expect anymore. I finished cleaning up before heading back to Snape's office to get the all clear to leave, but when I walked in he was gone. I looked around the room and the halls, both vacant of human life. I let out a loud huff and started to head to the library where I was supposed to meet Hermione for study help. The walk was silent, not a single student wandering the halls. It was about an hour to night fall, so I had to hurry, picking up the pace as I got closer. I stepped in to find Harry and Hermione sitting at a table, looking through piles of books.
"Hey guys!" I shouted, grabbing their attention.
"About time Sam, I thought you weren't gonna show." Hermione comment, pulling the chair beside her out for me to sit in.
"Yeah, Snape's punishment took a lot longer than I anticipated." I spoke, picking up a book from the stack. "What's with all the words Hermione? These don't even look like class books."
"They're not. Harry and I are trying to figure out stuff about the chamber of secrets." She confessed, closing the book she was currently reading.
"Chamber of secrets? What is that?"
"There is a secret chamber at hogwarts that hasn't been open in years, the Professors have been talking about it, and they said that the events that have been happening were the result of the chamber opening." Harry spoke, his voice hushed. "Whatever it is, it's seemed to been chasing mudbloods. We've found one petrified." He added.
"Mudbloods? Why mudbloods?"
"We're not sure, but you and Hermione are in danger if it is." Harry spoke. "We're going to speak to Hagrid tonight."
"Can I come?" I asked.
"No, I'm sorry Sam but you've already been caught once, I don't want you to get in trouble again." Hermione commented. She was right, there was a higher risk of me getting caught since I've been in trouble for it.
"Okay, I understand. I'll let you guys finish up here, I'm gonna head back to the common room." I said, getting up from my seat. I waved good by as I left the room, entering the still empty corridor.
As I let my mind wander, the words that came flooding back were 'fresh pastries and dandelions'. I could feel a smile creep into my face as I thought about it. He could smell me. No matter how much he resisted, he knew deep down he couldn't. I know if I'm persistent enough, this might work. Screw what his dad thinks. He can't control him forever.
