I can see him completely now. It's not just him in white, I see his sleek black and green robes. When I sleep, I see him, pacing and talking. This is him. I have finally found my home.

~~

It's been a few days since we've settled in. I finally met Ron and Harry after their "accident". my classes aren't as bad as I thought, but I have been making frequent trips to the library with Hermione to get some extra help.

We are currently sitting in the Gryffindor common room, laughing until our stomachs hurt at the stories Ron keeps telling us.

"There was one year that Fred and George pulled this amazing prank on Per-" Suddenly there was a loud cough from the doorway, and when we looked up, Percy was standing with his arms crossed, staring coldly at Ron.

"I think it might be time for you all to get some sleep." He said sternly, now leaning on the doorframe.

"But it's only nightfall." Harry groaned, but Percy didn't break.

"Teaching the first years bad habits are we Ronald? And you Ms. Granger, I figured you would be studying." He chuckled. I could see Hermione's face turn red. No one was speaking, just staring at their feet, until I decided to step in.

"Listen here Mr. "Prefect", last I heard, as long as were in our common room before nightfall, we're okay. You just use your power against us to push people around who don't deserve it. So if you want a problem, you can come find me. Petrificus totalus." As his body froze, I slipped past and shot a look at Hermione. "You know the counter spell, right?" and before she could speak, I ran out of the common room. I continued running down the hall until I stopped to catch my breath, panting as I leaned against a nearby pillar. Once I had finally recovered, I heard footsteps from around the corner, seeing the white hair and green robe from the sorting ceremony. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw me, quickly darting in the opposite direction.

"Ugh, and I just got done running." I groaned, chasing after him. He took every twist and turn he could find in the castle until I lost him in the outside gardens. I looked everywhere for him, until I heard his voice from a nearby tree.

"Why did you follow me here?" He asked, his voice croaky.

"Why did you run away from me?" Clear annoyance in my voice. He didn't answer, so I slowly stepped towards the tree, barely being able to see him through the branches. "Well?" I repeated, stepping even closer. I heard him shuffle before he left his spot and landed right in front of me.

"Because I wanted to avoid you as much as possible." He finally spoke, stepping back.

"Avoid me? Why?" I was completely confused and didn't understand.

"Because, it's not logical. A pure blood Slytherin and a mudblood Gryffindor. It wouldn't work." He spoke, no expression on his face. I didn't know what to say, but I understood. I may not be too educated in the magic category, but Hermione has taught me about the issue between pure bloods and mudbloods.

"Well then why is something drawing us together if it doesn't work?" He was silent again, his eyes searching mine. We stood in this position until we heard Filch heading our way, his lantern lighting his path.

"Go, I'll take the blame. Just stay away from me. It'll make this easier for both of us." He spoke, pushing me out of sight. I stumbled for a moment before hiding behind the tree just as Filch entered the garden.

"Ah, Mr. Malfoy. What are you doing roaming around the castle this late at night?" Filch asked, a sly smirk on his face. He would do anything to get a student thrown out of Hogwarts, no matter how good the family ties were.

"I needed some fresh air, that's all." The boy, who according to Filch, is last name is Malfoy. He held no expression in his response, almost like he was numb.

"Well I would expect an excellent student like you would obey the rules, but I guess I was wrong. Follow me. We'll see what Dumbledore has to say about this." Before he could protest, Filch graded his robe and started walking out of the garden, Malfoy looking back to make sure I wasn't in sight. When I couldn't hear the footsteps anymore I finally decided to come out of hiding, heading back to the common room. I had enough fun for the night. I walked slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible until a loud, booming voice rang in my ears.

"Ah, there you are. For a second I didn't think I'd find you." Percy. I didn't run, just stood still, allowing him the satisfaction of turning me in.

"Not even putting up a fight? I figured you would be terrified right now."

"Why? First violation of school rules? That's deduction of house points at least. Detention at most." I spat as he grabbed the hood of my robe and started walking.

"Don't forget that little trick you pulled earlier.. I'm not sure that will go over as easy." I only shrugged. I was only a first year, and hopefully the punishment wouldn't be too severe. Percy quickened his pace as we got closer to Dumbledore's office, busting the door open getting everyone in the rooms attention.

"Can I help you Percy?" Dumbledore spoke, his voice booming. He jerked me into the room, smiling proudly.

"Ms. Young was found wandering the halls, not to mention she preformed petrificus totalus on me before leaving her common room." I locked eyes with Malfoy, in the same position I was in, but Filch was a bit more, aggressive.

"That can't be, she's only a first year." Dumbledore commented, looking at me softly.

"We'll check her wand then!" Percy shouted.

"I left it in the common room, I just needed time to clear my head. No magic." I spoke immediately, my head tucking down.

"Well, without it, we can't be sure. So, ten points from Gryffindor, and you and Malfoy can have detention together. Tomorrow with Professor Snape." He concluded, gesturing us to leave. When Percy let go of me, I shot Malfoy a strong look and walked out, heading straight to my room. Tomorrow was going to be a trip, and I could feel the lump in my throat start to return.
