chapter one- after the letter~

Your or Y/N pov:
after the the slight anger outburst I had, I went back to work. Screaming from children, old people dying, blood, emergencies, child birth, covid, more blood, iv's, more screaming...

The unit was packed meaning I do work in the ER and it can get pretty damn crowded. I just couldn't get my mind off of Tobias's letter, that creepy bird boy got into my head, is this some type of hex, a joke, is he planning on killing me?...

I mean he could be a serial killer..pfft nahh. I mean theres always a chance, I never really get shocked anymore by what I have seen in the emergency room, one time a dumb kid ate a battery and face mask all in one night and had to get their stomach pumped.

Then i ran into him. The idotic bird boy was reading a book upside down! Is he even reading?

"I wish I was wealthier because I could of learned how to read..." I hear the bird boy mumble. How is he even a doctor if he does not know how to read!?

"H-hey do you need some help?" I said in a sympathetic yet curious tone of voice. The bird boy nodded "y-yeah..." I sighed and walked up to him "well for starters you're holding the book upside down"

I chuckled politely as I flipped the book right side up and rubbed the bird boys back. He jumped a bit "h-hey! What are you doing lad!?" I quickly stopped "you can speak?"

"Yes sir and i don't like you rubbing my back like that." Hes angry and somewhat nervous. "O-oh s-sorry! Were my hands cold?" You said jokingly, trying to calm him down. "N-n-no..you just- i never had someone touch me like that and it felt w-weird..."-

He said in a shakey tone, he honestly seemed like he was about to cry or have a nervous breakdown of some sort. "I-i'm so sorry i made you feel like that! I was just trying to comfort you in some way, i-i- i didn't know it would scare you"

"O-oh..um this is slightly weird now so uh, hi my name is Tobias!-" Tobias said in a less shakey tone of voice. "Well hi, my name is dr. Y/N" you said as you smiled softly at Tobias.

"S-so you wanna go somewhere?" Tobias said in a still somewhat shakey tone. "Uh my shift ends in ten minutes lad but i think i can clock in early i guess?.." I said in a confused tone as I looked at my phone to check the time.

"What's that glowy rectangular thingy in your hand?.." Tobias said in a curious tone of voice. "It's a phone, do you know what that is?" Tobias shaked his head. "But aren't you like old enough to have a phone?"

"I-i...nevermind" Tobias giggled nervously as he bit his finger, he was wearing leather gloves so it didn't really affect him in any way. "Why are you biting on your finger?" I asked in a confused tone.

"I-it doesn't hurt at all! My gloves prevent me from getting bitten by fleas a-and that's why i wear v-very thick leather..." Tobias said in a sad tone. "Fleas?..why are you worried about fleas?.." I said in a worried tone.

"Is there some new thing going around, i mean we already have covid-19 going around and I'm not ready for some new shit like that. Pfft!- maybe a second bubonic plague?!" I said in a joking tone not really thinking anything of it.

"P-please! Not again!- T-that's why i escaped..." Tobias said in a scared tone of voice as he started shaking alot. I got very concerned for him so i tried to get him to say something "what do you mean by escape?.. D-d-did i hurt you in any way?" I hugged him.

But he quickly pushed away knocking me to the ground "o-ow!" I yelped in pain as i hit the cold, hard floor. "I-i'm sorry! I-i-i-...didn't mean to hurt you in any type of way!-..i-i-..i- i was just not use to that embrace!"

I could tell that Tobias was hiding something but i just brushed it off and got back up on my feet. "You're pretty strong!-" I chuckled a bit as i nugged him. "O-oh s-sorry! I just felt these weird emotions.." Tobias looked down a bit.

"It's fine, your emotions are valid" i said while brushing my scrubs off. "Do you need some help?" Tobias said in a kind tone of voice. "I think I'm fine!-"

"Do you wanna go to the park or something" i said as i looked at my phone again. "What is a park?" Tobias said nervously as he scratched the back of his neck aggressively.

I looked at him like he was insane "where have you been, in a coffin?" I chuckled a bit not expecting a serious answer. "Maybe..." Tobias mumbled under his breath...

"H-huh?" Before i could say my next word Tobias glanced at the staff restroom and pushed me in there as he slammed the door i could feel my heart race..

"I-i-i-...i'm dead..." Tobias looked at the dripping water from the faucet from the sink. "W-WHAT?!"...
