It had been four years since Hogwarts school of whichcaft and wizardry had became home for Celeste. To her it felt almost unbelievable that in 3 years she wouldn't be rushing through these halls trying to make it to class in time. The comfort of this castle was greater than anywhere else in this world for her.
But this year, this particular year everyone could feel the rush in the air. The arisement of such rush was solely caused by fear, the fear of not finding a date for The Yule Ball. Celeste could feel this very rush within her. Anxiously waiting, not for some guy to ask her to the event but for a specific blonde haired, grey eyed slytherin boy.
Draco Malfoy and Celeste Donahue had been friends since birth, although they had their timely tussles they always felt connected to each other probably because of their very similar screwed up family history with dark magic and he who cannot be named. It was almost the end of 3rd year when Celeste realized that her connection with Draco was more than just friendship, awoken by none other than Pansy Parkinson when she had been practically sitting on Draco's lap babbling things only funny to them. It had took her an entire season of denial and running out of reasons to avoid the Malfoy manor and social events to finally accept the fact that she might have the tiniest smidge of feelings for the boy. It was only upon seeing him again after all that time that she realized her feelings were a hell of a lot more than tiny.
After waiting for an agonizing period of time for him to pop the question, Celeste finally believed her mind which had been screaming "it's never going to happen" the entire time and agreed to be the date of Blaze Zabini, another one of her childhood friends.
She had been ignoring Draco, leaving the room whenever he entered it, sitting as far away from him in class as wizardly possible but that was until the day of the ball when they had both to be there. In the same room.

It was finally the day that Draco had so painfully not been looking upto yet he was there, present at the great hall, eyes fixated on the girl he had been in love with for so long that he couldn't even remember now. There she was, Celeste Donahue in the arms of his best friend looking prettier than she ever did in his dreams, wearing the same smile but dancing with a guy that wasn't him. Even though he knew that he wasn't worthy of her he couldn't help but feel this sharp pain in his heart seeing her with him. After the worst summer of his life Draco wanted nothing more than to ask Celeste to the Yule ball but the fear of rejection was only further highlighted by the instructions of his dad to escort Pancy Pakinson, the most annoying girl in the wizarding world to the same.
It had been past 2am, the great hall which was roaring with laughter and enthusiasm was now almost cleared up. Draco had spent the entire evening sulking and regretting and cursing himself for being a coward. His date, annoyed by his actions had left hours ago with some ravenclaw guy he didn't care enough to remember.

Maybe the anger was bound to rupture or maybe she had too much to drink, whatever it was took a lot of courage for Celeste to finally walk up to Draco and say "Why Didn't You Ask Me?!" Taken back by the unpredictability of the question Draco started at her not knowing what to answer. "Why didn't u ask me to the ball?" She said. "I- I didn't think you would want to go with someone like me" "wouldn't want to go? I Waited For You!"
"You waited for me? But- but I barely saw you all summer. What do you mean you waited for me?" "I didn't want to accept it, I tried really hard to escape from it- to deny it but but the truth is... I-I like you Draco and you bringing Parkinson to the ball and not even asking me- you.. you really hurt me Draco"
Hearing that Draco pulled her towards him and kissed her expressing all that he could not speak through that one kiss. Pulling away he placed his warm hands on her cheeks and said "Hurting you is the last thing I ever wanted to do. I have no idea how to tell you but.... I've been loosing my sanity in love with you ever since we were 7, I fell in love with you that summer. When I saw you laughing in that yellow dress I knew you were all I would ever want. Your eyes your smile your hair your voice YOU ARE ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT. Whenever you're away from me it's like air is being sucked out of my lungs suffocating me and this- this throbbing pain in my heart that I just can't get rid of unless you're near me. And I don't care if you're my lover or my friend I just need you to be with me.. be near me because I am so afraid of losing you. You ,Celeste Donahue are the object of all my desires and I will do anything that it takes to keep you happy" Celeste smiled with tears clinging to her eyes threatening to escape "I had no idea... will you dance with me Draco?"
Smiling he nods replying yes, taking her hand into his he leads her to the almost clear dance floor and they move to the slow rhythm together in sync. All the emotions that they could not express was felt by the other that night as they danced.
