Chapter 2

I wandered the streets with no money. Left alone in a horrible world , I feared everyone who came across me after what I witnessed. For a 17 years old who lost everything in a minute, I should be crazy right now. I went over to Stacey’s she welcomed me with her parents with a comfy smile and pity in there eyes.

Stacey’s mother prepared me food , but I didn’t have my appetite , I couldn’t eat. I apologized for the reason that I’m a stranger sleeping over at their home , and thanked that they’ve welcomed me for those few days. When I got in the room with Stacey. She couldn’t hold herself anymore.

“What happened?!I couldn’t believe what I heard.I mean it happened in a sudden, couldn’t understand anything!”.-She said.

“Stacey, It’s been a hard day, I really don’t want to talk about it”.-I replied.

“ But Laurence..”

“Don’t bring this piece of shit into any of our conversations right now. I’M DONE, he is the reason behind all my suffering right now.”- I interrupted her, and rolled over to the other side of the bed turning my back to her and breaking in tears.

“Okay sweetheart.Goodnight I guess”.-Stacey said and turned off the lights.

Images of the incident kept on going on repeat in my head. The same scene over and over , my dad covered in blood all over me, and my mom closing the door in my face and her heartbreaking words.
I kept on waking up in fear because of this nightmare. I’ve lost the inner peace I had.
I got out of bed the next day so early getting ready to school with Stacey . Red under my eyes , and pain can be clearly visible on my face even Stacey got afraid of my appearance.

“ You didn’t sleep darling?”-Stacey’s parents said over and over.

“ I kept on having nightmares, I think I’ll be going through them for a while. Thank you for your concern."-I replied and went to take the school bus ride with Stacey.

In the bus, all I could here was:”Look at her eyes, Look at her face , Oh my god she’s terrible”.
Those words kept on popping in my mind , people just don’t understand what I’ve been through.I might even drop out of school in a few months because simply my mother isn’t my mother anymore.

We reached the school, and walked through the main corridors, took my first few class sessions and went to the cafeteria on my break. I sat on the table I used to sit in with my best friends ,but of course no one welcomed me there.

“Oh no darling, you’re not welcome here anymore heartbreaker, not all after you did to Laurence you liar, now walk away,walk away”-everyone on the table said and raised there hand moving me away.

I went over with Stacey to a table alone , and sat there silently, my mind lost within everything Laurence took from me . In that moment, Laurence walked in the cafeteria with his few gang members following him. All the students in here kept on telling him and comforting him “You’ll move on , there is so much girls better than her”-and just seeing him moving with the wave of the heartbroken emotions pissed me off.

I ran over to him grabbing everything in my way to throw right at him . I just lost control, I raged , I couldn’t see who or what is in front of me . I just went all in with the fight. I threw all the food at him, cans and everything you might think of. Stacey and many people in there tried to stop me but no use.

“You ruined my life!! You took everything from me, You murderer!! You took my father from me and left me in the dark!! You’re the devil in a human being!!”
All the cafeteria went silent of what they just heard.
Laurence’s face was so red that it was about to explode.All Laurence’s friends besides his gang members who witnessed kept on questioning Laurence.
“Did you really did it? Are you out of your mind?”

“Do you know the consequences?” Those questions were thrown at Laurence everywhere.

“She has nothing to prove it, she’s just blaming me on her bad decisions” He replied and left the cafeteria.He kept on surprising me more and more, the deceiving liar.

I went back home after that miserable day just to see that Stacey’s house all designed as if there was a birthday or something. Stacey’s parents were waiting out on the doorstep for our arrival , Stacey was beaming and laughing hard on what she saw, she was so happy for I don’t know why reason.

“Welcome home, Allison and Stacey.”-Stacey’s parents said.

I walked in just to see a line of balloons with the letters

“WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY , ALLISON CALLAHAN”-It said.

I was in shock , I didn’t quite comprehend what was happening . I lost control of my emotions , I didn’t even feel myself dropping the school bag so hard on the floor.

“What do you mean?”-I said so confused.

“Look darling, we’re old people now, Mrs.Callahan delivered Stacey in her late 30s, and I personally wanted more , but God didn’t gift us with more”.-Mr Callahan said.

“We loved you ever since you knew Stacey, and always saw in you a daughter to our family”-Mrs Callahan continued.

“So I thought after what you’ve passed through, that we could make you our daughter legally right now, Of Course if you don’t mind”.-Mr. Callahan said.

He handed over the papers with the pen on the other side of the table towards me , waiting for my signature.

“Um.. Wow! I don’t know what to say, I really have been through a lot , losing my father and my mother abandoning me , I actually didn’t know what to do next when I get out of your house.”-I said.

“Thanks for your offer Mrs. and  Mr. Callahan, and I gladly would appreciate being your daughter”.

I signed the papers with a big grin on my face , I haven’t been happy since well , yesterday. Stacey was beaming as I officially am her new sister. I guess I am now an Allison Callahan.
Philanthropy is found in our community, just appreciate every philanthropist for the good he does to other people , even if it might be a cringe for you, but there are people out there that really needs the good out of other people. If it wasn’t for the Callahan’s I don’t know where I would’ve been right now, maybe a poor wanderer at the streets so poor I couldn’t buy a meal.Callahans I will forever be in your debt.
