music is the best way of coping with feeling, at least for jughead jones. in a small town like riverdale, no one understands you better than music, and that's why his volume on his headphones are so loud, as he's walking down the hallway.
his steps are heavy, his whole body is. he's looking down, avoiding eye contact, wearing all black to mix in with the lot. he has a million thoughts, but all he focuses on, is the music playing though his headphones. until something snaps him into the real world; or rather, someone.
"hey, watch where you're going, you emo scum!" the words are yelled by no other than archie andrews.
jughead looks at him, "grow up," he says and continues walking. he has had enough of childish jerks, who apparently runs this high school.
when jughead arrives to his locker he takes off his headphones, and unlocks the locker. he's unsure what class he has, so he just grabs all of his books.
he has a picture of himself and a blonde girl in his locker, that has been hiding behind all of his books. he looks at it for a few seconds, then he shuts the locker, to see the blonde girl standing in front of him.
she looks excited, and hugs jughead tight. a bit too tight, so he drops one of his books, "i've missed you too, betty, but you don't have to kill me first thing you do when you see me," he says, and betty laughs.
"sorry," she says and picks up the book jughead dropped. "we have a lot of catching up," she continues.
"yeah yeah yeah, of course, but right now you have math, so go to your class instead of talking to me," he tells her. and realizes how he has managed to memorize betty's schedule, but now his own. but the thought disappeared quickly, and so did betty.
jughead looks around, and sees archie standing a couple lockers away. they have almost all of their classes together, so he's hoping for archie to know what class he has, but he doesn't even get there before archie starts yelling at him. "oh, what the fuck do you want?"
jughead rolls his eyes, "what class do we have? also, i was wondering when the fuck, you're going to grown up, stop acting like a jerk because you're friends are here. we all know you're soft,"
archie grabs jughead by his arm and drags him into nearest empty room he could find, which happened to be a really small classroom that no one rarely uses. "what the fuck do you think you're doing?" he says, and lets go of his arm.
"just stating the obvious, they deserve to know how pathetic you are," jughead says and looks archie right into his eyes.
"fuck you, jones!" archie's tone is getting louder and angrier, and he pushes jughead against the wall.
"what are you gonna do, archie? huh? kiss me?" jughead laughs, "i remember it like yesterday when you used to push me against the wall and kiss me passionately in an empty classro—" jughead gets cut off by archie punching him in the face.
"you're not gonna say another fucking word to me, nor my friends, do you understand?" archie says.
"only if i get a kiss," jughead laughs, and archie gives him another punch so he starts bleeding from his nose, then he leaves the classroom. only seconds later, toni, a friend of jughead, enters the room.
she sees jughead and runs up to him, "oh my god jug, you're bleeding!"
"thanks for the heads up, i didn't know,"
