jughead got to school extra early today, to make sure he arrives there before archie, but especially before archie's friends.

he didn't make it in time, archie was already there when he entered school, but at least his friends weren't. jughead hurries up to archie, praying for his life that none of archie's friends will get there any time soon.

archie is standing at his locker, and jughead walks up there and stands behind him. archie doesn't notice him, which is good, that means jughead at least has a few seconds to figure out what to say. "archie, can you please come with me?" archie turns around quickly, and jughead understands it's because he got scared.

archie looks around for a few seconds, making sure that no one he knows is watching before he answers. "y-yeah," he says and jughead takes him by the hand and starts walking out of school. "jughead, where are we going?" he says, but jughead doesn't reply, he just continues walking, and after a while, they arrive at sweetwater river, and they just stand there for a while, looking at the river.

jughead is still holding archie's hand, and it feels natural. but when archie looks at him, he lets go.

"why'd you bring me here?" archie asks and looks at jughead, who's focused on the river, and rather looks at the waves than making eye contact.

jughead takes a deep breath, then he looks at archie. "i just think we need to talk," he says. "because we can't keep doing this... ignoring the situation in reality and be two whole different people when no one watches,"

jughead looks back at the river when he has finished speaking, but archie continues to look at him. "i know, and i'm sorr-"

"sorry isn't going to be enough if you're gonna continue to break every bone in my body when you're in front of your friends,"

"i'm not gonna hurt you again,"

archie looks down at his feet, he's ashamed, and he just wants to disappear and forget that anything ever happened between him and jughead.

neither jughead nor archie knows what to say, but none of them wants to leave, so they just look at each other. and all of a sudden, it starts to rain. just like that night, when they met at the same place they're standing at right now.

jughead takes off his beanie and puts it in his backpack, and when he looks at archie again, he notices how archie hadn't stopped looking at him for a single second.

jughead knows that even if you really want to do something, it's not always good to do it, but right now, he didn't care. he puts his hand on archie's neck and feels his hair go through his fingers, then he leans in, closes his eyes, and as the rain pours down at them he feels how their lips collide.

jughead was scared that archie was gonna push him away, but when he feels archie using his hands to push jughead's body closer to his own and continues to kiss him passionately, he knows he doesn't have to worry.

jughead moves his hand up to archie's head and grabs his hair. he doesn't grab it so hard that it hurts, but hard enough for archie to really feel it. he then places his other hand behind archie, to be able to hold him close to himself.

it felt as if they had been kissing for an eternity, but in reality, it had only passed six and a quarter seconds.

they open their eyes and places their foreheads against each other. archie places his hands on jughead's face, and jughead places his on archies chest. jughead then closes his eyes again and takes a deep breath.

"i've missed this, archie," jughead feels how his voice is shaky, and he lifts his head and looks at archie.

"me too, jughead," he answers and hugs him tight.

and suddenly, it stops raining.
