For those who might not know him, his name is JJ Chayakorn Jutamat. He plays the role of Waan in the series My Gear and Your Gown.
JJ's POV
My first reaction when the blood spurted from the IV catheter and onto my gloved hand was to wince but I willed myself to focus on my task of starting an IV line on my patient. I cursed myself for forgetting to put pressure on the vein to keep the blood from flowing through the canula before I could attach the end of the tubing. I quickly placed pressure on the vein with one finger while using my other hand to attach the tubing to the end of the canula by using my thumb and forefinger to twist and tighten it. I quickly finished the rest of the procedure, making sure to observe the sterile technique.
I could tell by the way that the physician I was training under had pursed his lips that I would get a scolding the moment we left the patient's room.
Sure enough as soon as I had finished hanging the IV bag and setting the desired flow rate of the solution and after saying a polite good bye to the patient, Dr. Sivakorn turned to me.
"Intern Jutamat, you know what mistake you made earlier when you started the IV procedure, right?" he asked, while busily writing notes on a pocket notepad.
"Yes, Dr. Sivakorn," I said, hoping that my voice sounded contrite enough for him to not deduct any points from my grade. No such luck.
"And you realize that it has lessened your overall score by ten points, right?"
"Shit."
"What did you say?"
"I said I'm sorry, Dr. Sivakorn."
I could not wait to get out of his clutches fast enough. My cell phone was vibrating every few seconds in my pocket.
Without having to fish it out of my pocket, I knew for sure that it was Un calling me.
I had promised to treat him to dinner this evening at the newly opened Peruvian restaurant on the third floor of the shopping mall not far from the hospital were I was an intern. I had promised to treat him to dinner in exchange for introducing me to his older sister Puimek. I had only seen her from afar when she had come to pick up Un from my house but I found her really pretty and judging from her smiling face, a kind and gentle person.
As soon as Dr. Sivakorn dismissed me, I rushed to the hospital basement parking lot and before pressing my car key, I took out my phone from my pocket.
Sure enough I had eighteen missed calls from Un and before I could return his call, he had started calling me again.
I swiped my screen and before I could even say hello, he said breathlessly, "I'm here at the entrance of the mall. How much longer before you get here."
"I just got out of my shift, Un. I'll be there in ten minutes."
"Okay, see you, JJ."
I couldn't totally blame him for being always anxious and overexcited about almost all stuff. He was only seventeen years old. But time flies fast. Soon he will mature enough to be like me.
Sure I'm only two years older than him and the reason I finished med school this early was because I was accelerated throughout my school days and college days.
I glanced at the time on my phone screen. It was half past seven in the evening. I could have finished my shift earlier if not for being assigned to start that IV drip on the newly admitted patient.
