It has been three days since we met in the café that I haven't spoken to Chloe, she kept calling but I didn't answer. She left a couple of voice message saying she is sorry for overreacting; I should please call her.
I couldn't muster up the courage to call, I was still in shock from the news I read on the internet on how she murdered her dad. Just then she called, I answered it because there was no point of ignoring her calls, I needed answers, I was beginning to like her, this just had to happen. I feel I'll never have the love my parents have. Am cursed when it comes to love.
"Hey Damien, I have been calling, you weren't answering. Hope everything's okay." She sounded concerned.
"I'm okay." Was all I could say.
"I'm sorry, for the way I left the café. Hope am forgiven." I didn't know what to say. "Aren't you going to say something, Damien are you, okay. Should I come to see you?" The last sentence caught my attention.
"You don't need to come, am fine!" I sounded harsh this time.
"Damien are you still angry, I said am sor—" I hanged up the phone I couldn't take it. I am not good at pretending; people say it's a lie because am an actor. Being an actor is different because you have a script and directors that can guide you on pretending to someone you are interested in the conversation. She called back; I quickly made my number busy for her. I need to think things through first.
The film needs five scenes and I'll be done. I'll finally go back to New York; I miss my family. I called the person who understands me and who would advise me in this situation. My mum. I speed dialled her number, it rang, thank God she answered.
"Damie, am so glad you called. The last you called was on Monday." She sounded so happy to hear from me. I could tell she was in the kitchen because of the sound of the glass in the background.
"Am fine mum." I sighed.
"Damie, what's wrong dear." I know she could tell something was wrong.
"Nothing, just work. It's stressful." I said massaging my temple.
"Sweetie, okay tell me the truth, what happened. Is it Lucy?"
"Fine, you got me. There is this girl I meet-." She didn't let me finish she replied.
"You have a new girl in your life." I could feel her smile from the phone.
"Something like that mum, just wait let me finish."
"Am so sorry honey, am just so excited you have finally moved on." She sounded so happy.
"Yeah, I met her when I was coming back from shooting a scene on Thursday, she said we should meet in café, so we could formally introduce each other, which I did. I found out she is the Chloe Wayne, that has awards in the tri-sport event." I paused, I had to take a deep breath.
"Sweetie, go on. Just take a deep breath." She is good at calming me down. "That's nice, she is an athlete, even better."
"Mum, we are not a thing." I paused then continued. "Then she overreacted and walked away angrily. I got a call from Lance, I had to go to the studio to meet him because he sounded urgent. I got there; Lucy came to tell me that I was going out with Chloe, that she saw the picture of both of us at the café on a celebrity blog in Las Vegas. I thought that was the reason why Chloe left. Lucy told me she is a psychopath, I thought she was lying till I googled it, I found out she was involved in a homicide that she had a hand in her father's death, mum I had already fallen for her. I know it is too fast, that am meant to take the feelings slowly but I felt drawn to her. There was something about her that I can't place my finger on." I felt better saying out and also felt hurt within me. She was silent for some time.
