"Jen, we'll be leaving tomorrow. Like I said, no sneaking out and parties until we get home."

There was that familiar tone again, a hint of warning she should've taken more seriously.

"Just five days, sweetie. I can't let you run loose when we are miles away from you. We don't know what lurks around in the shadows. You're a beautiful young lady. You have to be more careful from now on."

That was her father's second warning. It's oddly funny how Jennie remembered all these reminders out of the blue but not her responses, perhaps, there were none to begin with.

She should've really listened. Deep down, Jennie recognized it was all her fault. She got too complacent and look where that got her.

"Lock all the doors and windows before you sleep, okay? We'll be back before you know it."

Maybe if she listened at this one particular request and closed that one window, none of these would've happened to her.

Jennie would've never met this woman.
