Once Reese and I finished our meals we both went our separate ways. Though I wanted to drive over to Des, my ex's house immediately I decided to wait until tomorrow. The drive wasn't that long and I made it home around 9. I park my car in the driveway and head inside the front door. I start to go up to my room but a booming voice from the living room stops me in my tracks.
"Kenya!" My dad enthusiastically calls out to me, "did we win?"
I turn back around and head into to living room to see my dad. He's sprawled out on the couch with a beer watching one of his crime shows.
"No, as usual," I roll my eyes, "I swear the boys on the basketball team sure are cocky for people who haven't been to the championship in years." My school's football and boys basketball teams usually don't even win 3 games a year.
"Well how'd cheer go? Did you do your back handspring?" He asks with genuine interest. I always loved how he really shows interest in the things I do, even if he doesn't understand them.
I chuckle at his question, "Yeah dad, I did a passes with back handsprings and my tuck multiple times. We stunted too."
"Um she better've tumbled," My mom stepped into the living room, "after all that money we put into tumbling classes." She comes up next to me and hugs me, "so did you and Amara hangout after the game?"
Now, I have a pretty great relationship with my parents and I try not to lie to them. I probably would tell them the truth if things were different. But I just don't feel like explaining everything about the Reese situation right now. I barley know what's going on.
"Yeah we went to Friendly's. Oh my gosh I have the funniest pun for you," I think about the pun I filled out on my placemat.
"God, what is it?" My mom sighs. I know she's probably tired of my puns and corny jokes.
"Ok here it is," I smile and prepare to lay the funniest thing I heard today, "Shawty its sherbet day! Cause Friendly's is an ice cream place?!!"
"That was awful," My dad smiles a little and shakes his head.
"Well I found it hilarious," I wish I could tell them that it was even funnier coming from Reese's mouth. He said it so monotone and plain yet that made it even funnier.
I talked to my parents for a little longer before heading up to my room. I took a quick shower and throw on my fuzzy pajamas and silk bonnet. I light a candle, hop into my bed and watch some Disney+ on my laptop. As I start to wind down and relax I remember what I have to do, English homework oh and talk to Des.
Des was my boyfriend from the start of sophomore year up until the beginning of this year, junior year. Our relationship didn't end because he cheated or anything, it just wasn't going anywhere if that makes since. We still talk and stuff and I might even be able to consider us as friends. Well at least before I found out he either catfished someone and used my nudes or leaked my nudes to the point where some rando got their hands on them.
I know I shouldn't have sent them and I know this was obviously something that could happen because of my decision. But he just never seemed like that type of guy to me. He was always super sweet and caring before during and after our relationship. But I guess that goes to show that you can't trust people just because they seem nice.
Without hesitation I call him. Some time did pass so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't answer. After about two rings he picks up, "Hey Ken, what's up?" His voice sounds groggy as if he were sleeping.
I go to apologize for waking him up but remember why I'm calling him, "Look I have something important to talk to you about. Can I stop by tomorrow?"
"We can't talk about it over the phone?" He questions.
"No, it's serious."
"Like really serious?" At this point he's just messing with me.
"Yes Des, really serious. Like hate you forever serious." I swear he can be so fucking annoying.
"Well why didn't you say that?" He starts to laugh, "but for real, I'll come over right now and we can talk."
"Um no? I have parents, remember?"
"Take Ollie out for a walk and meet me down the street," He suggests. I used to do that all the time whenever he wanted to see me late a night.
I think about it for a minute. I really want to talk to him as soon as possible, "Fine."
I'm kind of annoyed that I have to get out of my bed and take off my pajamas but I'm glad I'm getting this over with. I throw on a hoodie and sweatpants and let my hair down from the bonnet. It's in box braids right now so thankfully I don't have to do anything to it. I know I shouldn't care about my appearance right now but swear I have to always look presentable.
I creep out into the hallway to find that no lights are on downstairs which means that my both my parents are in their room. Hallelujah. Even though walking the dog is a good alibi they would probably still question why I'm doing it at 11. I grab my winter coat out of the downstairs closet and check my phone.
Des: I'm parked near the stop sign
Me: K I'm omw
It's pitch dark out so I grab one of my dad's flashlights. I as I stroll in the dark I remember how scary the world can be and start to practically sprint.
"Let me in!" I bang on the passenger window.
"Okay okay!" he defensively puts his hand up as he unlocks the car, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," I pant, "I'm fine." I bend down and slide into the car.
"So, hey. It's been a while," He turns to face me. He has a velvet purple durag on and a grey sweatshirt with matching sweatpants, "what happened?"
"Did you send my nudes around?" Looking at him directly I don't break our eye contact.
"No I told you a million times that I would never do that. I literally deleted them as soon as we broke up."
"So how did they get sent to someone who didn't even know who I was?" I snap, "How does that happen? Hmm?"
"I don't know! I swear I didn't do it," He pulls his phone out, "look I'll prove that I deleted them,"
"Wether or not you still have them doesn't matter," I cross my arms, "I need to know how they ended up with someone at a completely different school."
"I'll find out, I promise."
"You better."
