First period was a bore, as it always was.

Kanami sat in the very corner of the lunch room. She tapped her pencil on the table, looking at the uncompleted math homework in front of her and sighing softly as she filled out another problem on the sheet. She had math homework for fifth period, but all she could focus on was the most recent letter she had written. How it still lie at the bottom of her locker.

"Working on homework again, are you?"

Kanami almost jumped, her eyes widening a little as she glanced up at the intimidating figure in front of her. She took a soft breath, sighing quietly and nodding a little. "U-Um.. m-mhm! Y-You always scare me, Miss Layka.." She ran her hands through her hair, setting her hands down on the lunch table. "u-um..did y-you come to sit with me again?"

Layka offered her a small, serene smile, taking a seat and nodding lightly. "You seemed lone." She explained, folding her hands in front of her and glancing down at the unfinished paper. All the little scribbles on it just made her chuckle. "Is it difficult, dear? I will not mind helping."

Miss Layka,
I already know I won't have the confidence to send you this letter. Maybe anonymously, if I knew for sure you wouldn't recognise my handwriting.. but you're always the one to help me with my math homework. You would know..so.. I'm not gonna send this again.

"O-Oh, um- no! It's fine! I- I'll just make up an excuse.. M-Mr. Miyaji really likes me anyway.."

But I thought it would be worth writing, okay? I didn't want to keep this all bottled up and.. I always write letters like these and never ever send them. I really like that nickname you call me.. Dear. I really like it.. you're really sweet to me, Miss Layka. And you're always so peaceful and calm with me, even if I make so many mistakes to the point that it's really just embarrassing.

"Oh, yes, I seem to forget you are often the pet of the teachers.." Layka bit back a small chuckle again, tapping the table and handing her a container of lead. As if she had known Kanami's pencil was nearly out. "Here you are, dear. I saw earlier in English, that you were struggling with writing.." She offered her a sly smile. Is this flirting?

And I can never really even tell if you're flirting with me or not but the point is I really like you. You're so nice and those boots you always wear are nice too. I get really nervous about how tall you are though... I just really really like you.

"..Thank..you.." Kanami stammered out, taking the small container of lead and offering her a little smile. "I-I ..you always kn-know that stuff about me, heh.." She pushed some lead in the tip of her pencil, sitting up a little and watching Layka get to her feet. "A-Ah..um.. going somewhere..?"

"I sincerely apologise, dear. I forgot I was to help someone else during lunch.." Layka gave her a slim, sympathetic smile. "Perhaps next time. I will help with your work, yes?"

"Oh, oh.. um.. that's okay..! I.. I h-hope you two have fun together," Kanami gave her another small, flustered smile, tapping her fingers together and fumbling with her hands. "An-and..yes..next time."

"Goodbye, Kana, dear."

"G- Goodbye.."

From the girl who admires you from afar,
Kanami Kaneko.
