It was a cold rainy night when Worthy, who was on guard with Shadow, saw five small torchlights making their way towards the castle. He turned to Shadow, who was struggling to stay awake. This wasn't her normal shift on night watch but the rain meant Jolt couldn't join him, so she had volunteered while Jolt hid inside. Five soaked Greencloaks soon came to them. Their torches dim, he recognised them from his horrid trip in the jungles of Zhong.
"NUK!" cried Shadow throwing her arms around her old friend. #
"You guys are soaking, wanna come inside?" offered Worthy.
"Yes please" begged Shanta. Worthy opened the great iron door and the seven of them entered. Stead, who was in the hall beyond the door, came running over.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" he demanded. Cashi turned away from the door.
"Oh, sorry. We're travelers. Nuk's an old friend of Shadow's and we all know them from a trip in Zhong" she said. "Also, how do you get this door to close properly?" Shadow went to help her.
"Yes, yes, that's fine" said Stead, but it was almost as if he wasn't thinking.
"Are you alright?" asked Worthy.
"Huh? Oh, erm, yes I'm fine. Just, that girl reminds me of someone I used to know."
"This is Cashi" said Shanta. "And I am Shanta. These are my students, Rona, Nuk and Lan." He smiled and held out his hand for Stead to shake. He ignored it instead stepped towards Cashi.
"Cashi" he said. "Your name rings a bell. Have I worked with you before?"
"No, probably not" said Cashi.
The next day Stead seemed distant. Jolt noticed.
"Hey man, what happened to Stead?"
"I don't know. He went all weird last night. I think he has a crush on Cashi" explained Worthy. Jolt laughed.
"Soama won't be pleased."
"Nope."
"Let's go talk to him" said Jolt, running over to their leader. "Hey Stead, are you ok?" Stead turned and shook his head. "What's wrong, man?"
"It's Cashi" he began.
"What about Cashi?" asked Worthy.
"I once had a sister. Her name was Cashi, she summoned a spirit animal like my father. Being a caring girl, she decided to go to the Greencloaks and bring the Nectar to Stetriol." He was crying now. "I never saw her again."
"Oh" Worthy said. He couldn't imagine losing Dawson.
"So she reminds you of your sister?" asked Jolt. Stead nodded. Then someone knocked on the door.
"Hello?" called Worthy. Cashi opened the door and smiled.
"Sorry if I'm interrupting anything" she said, "but I was wondering if-" Stead looked up and she stopped. He had his mask off. "Alix?" she said, her voice a shocked whisper.
"It is you!" said Stead. She ran to him and threw her arms around him. At first the regal leader of the Redcloaks looked surprised but he soon hugged her back tight.
"I thought I lost you" he said.
"Everyone thought that" she replied. Then in a flash, an arctic fox appeared.
"Traser" he said, his smile widening. The fox liked him.
"Looks like neither of us forgot about you, Alix" said Cashi.
"So tell me about your adventures" said Stead, pulling out of the hug and walking off with an arm round his sister. As he did his hand caught on a silver chain round her neck. He pulled it up, revealing a pendant with a wave carved into it. "You still have it" he said. She placed her hand on his and nodded.
"You have done so much, brother. I'm so impressed."
"Oh, it's not that much" he said as they walked out the door.
"Well" said Worthy, turning to Jolt. "That was..."
"Awkward."
"I was gonna say surprising but random will do."
"I didn't say random, man."
"I know."
"She's quite a bit older than him."
"So we're talking about age now?"
"No." They both laughed
