Embers floated into the air as a sky-blue glow shone through the smoke. It spoke with ominous, threatening words. Threatening the saviors of the land.
"You, are in my way. I see nothing more than filth and grime in your cause. You aren't my target yet. Any of you." His voice crackled with a strain of aggression. Each and every one of the remaining Storm's Remnants were at risk. "But keep up being in my way and you'll end up like your friend 'Vulx.' Ill turn him to scraps of metal and you to scraps of flesh and dust."
All of us. Orion, symbol of change and acceptance. Plum, symbol of peace and hope. Echo, symbol of diligence and prosperity. Spear, symbol of strength and persistence. D'mantis... symbol of... deception and destruction... discourage... Vulx, is the gateway to our future. Our saving.
"WE REFUSE TO LET THAT HAPPEN. NOT TO HIM, NOT TO US!" I bellowed. I knew what I was doing was racking the nerve in my friends. I knew it all too well, but we need him. We need Vulx. After all, this is where my memory ended. We needed to forge a new path.
Ozone spread out his wings, surging with power and readying his jets. He roared, a crackling, daunting voice as he boosted himself right into Vulx. As soon as I thought we had lost him, a flash of lights glared of various reds and oranges as something clashed right into Ozone. Sparks flew and reflected, as another tech.. something.. had him constrained and threw him to the side.
It didn't even seem possible, whatever that is, it's stronger than Ozone and a super-powered jet boost. All I knew is there was a bigger fish in this lake now. Ozone had gotten free of the something's appendages but at the cost of a fang. Focusing my attention on Vulx, he was limping away from the sparring in the middle of the scorched field. I sprinted to give him a hand.
It was extremely risky, an open field while something stronger than the strongest crystalline unit was winning against him. What else could have found itself here... and why? "P- Plum.. why a- are you..." Vulx sputtered, as I took some weight off of his trembling legs.
"We need you.." I spoke calmly and moved into the heavy brush. "We'll find a place where we can stay for as long as we can. That is... till we need to move once m- AGH!" I was stopped and was lifted up by the unknown thing's mechanical tentacle. I freaked out, trying to claw it off me but it was just cold, hard metal.
Still struggling as it lifted me higher, and without a blink I found myself being thrown to the ground below. Hitting the dirt hard, landing on my side and skidding a small distance. It was so.. painful.. my sight was disoriented and I felt so weak.
Shaking my head, seeing what began to unfold. I almost didn't believe it. It was Echo and Spear out in the fray. Orion stood back with Vulx, making sure he was fully hidden. The something... somehow hovered in the air almost like Vulx flew across the skies when there was no threats. I... wish we could go back to the time... when there were no threats.
Echo pulled it out of the air and sent it tumbling to the grass-torn dirt. The Something was in enough of a timeframe of stillness to see some of it's details. It had.. white horns... ash grey scales... a navy-blue tint on the tuft of fur it has running... down its neck...
I knew exactly who this was. This was the manipulator. The ruinous hand. The fanatic of implants. Solio. Out of all people, it just had to be her. Echo looked... beyond pissed with her. I didn't know what was up with him, if he was okay because he was literally crackling with static electricity. It flowed all through him and he had wings of pure energy!
He didn't look hurt, at least... not physically. Emotionally? I couldn't say the same thing. I wasn't sure if the fact it was Solio that was doing this, or I was hurt, or both. He leaped on her chest and started pummeling her with a barrage of fast-impact punches. Before she was seriously hurt she caught herself and kicked Echo off of her.
Solio swiftly jetted into the air, letting go of Ozone, who lay limp on the ground. She had similar tech to the units like Vulx and Ozone that let her fly, but what powered all this tech she had? Ozone grunted, he was surrounded by us and would die if we all attacked him. "Vermin. All of you." Were the only words he left before flying off.
Everything was so... silent for a long time. No fire crackling, no jets, no voices, nothing. I still lay on the ground, Echo lending me a hand made me realize that. He stood just as he did before he was all charged with energy.
"Glad that one didn't end catastrophically.. you alright? Took quite the fall." Echo asked. I nodded, My head just hurt, rushed with so many thoughts. We're gonna be in constant threat of Ozone and Solio now. How far did we have to go before we could rest for more than a day? Oh, and what will we do about the currently... missing... D'mantis?
Just what will we do? What can we do?
