The Space Cat was following him.
And it was getting annoying.
Everywhere he went, if he went to the Navigation room, the cat was there.
If he went to his personal room, the cat was there.
If he went to the fucking bathroom, the cat was there.
So when Pink was murdered the night after Purple, he was counting on the cat to clear him. Yellow had been going to check up on Pink in the evening. When she found the dead body. Which Black thought was a little suspicious.
But then again, he thought everything was suspicious.
Many of them hadn't even looked at the body, they couldn't bare another horrific sight right after Purple's death. And it would only get harder as the people they grew closer to started dropping dead.
The remaining nine crewmates (plus one imposter) sat at the middle cafeteria table.
They were warily eyeing each other, well aware of the two empty seats. Finally, Brown spoke.
"We need to vote someone off. We have to shoot, if we don't then we all be dead soon,"
Lime stood, "Is the voting application done yet?"
"Yes, it is, it's uploaded on to all of your tablets. And yes-" White pointed a finger at Lime to stop her from interrupting, "Blue did watch me because you think I'm so untrustworthy,"
"So..." Orange started, "Who are we voting off?"
That was a good question. And he was the only one to put it into words. Everyone else was thinking the same thing but none of them were brave enough to say it. After all, by voting someone out, they were crushing their dreams of space travel.
No one wanted to go. Even if it meant possibly getting killed by the killer. Everyone on the ship would rather achieve their dreams of going to Polus and possibly die than go home safely. Black had to admire that.
"Well, Blue? You're the captain," Green looked at Blue.
And Green was right. She was the leader. She made the tough calls.
Blue sighed, "I don't think of any of you as killers. But obviously, one of you is. The claim I'm about to make is completely objective. I'm going off facts, so please, don't be mad at me,"
The whole crew tensed, Black could feel it. They were all waiting to see who would be blamed.
"Red, I believe you're the imposter,"
Did you really think I'd leave you there?
Red sucked in a breath, "What's your evidence?" His voice was hoarse, as he took off his red cap and started fiddling with the strap.
Suspicious.
"On the first day, after the warning, I remember you getting into a little argument with Purple," Her face showed no emotion. It was blank.
"That doesn't mean I'd want to kill him!"
"Yes, but I also believe that the imposter was sent on a mission from another corporate, and you had to kill everyone anyway, so why not start with the person you despise the most?" Blue's face was still blank and a part of Black wondered if she had ever had practice I a situation like this.
"That doesn't prove anything," Red's voice was quiet now, his long red hair hung in his face.
"And, you were a mechanic, were you not?"
"I am,"
"And Pink was a mechanic?"
"Yes,"
"Then I suspect that you got rid of Pink so that the rest of the crew would rely on you to be the mechanic,"
"What-"
"I agree," White cut in.
Everyone looked at her.
"The evidence is sufficient,"
Lime stood, "I- I actually agree with white. I don't want anyone to go home, but think of it like this, if you're not the imposter, then at least you'll be safe from them if you go home,"
Then Black understood why they needed to vote someone off. If they didn't they'd be at a high disadvantage, if the imposter killed enough people, the voting wouldn't even matter anymore.
They had to shoot.
Plus, it wasn't like they were killing anyone.
* * *
They all knew the results before they even got them.
Red was voted out. He left that night. In an escape pod, with a direct route to Earth, where he would be judged and put in a trial to see if he was the imposter.
If they were right, then they were safe.
If they were wrong, then another person would be dead by morning.
They couldn't be wrong.
Heh, sorry it's short, I just wanted to get it out.
I haven't updated in a week and I feel guilty, I try to keep a twice a week schedule because I know I'm not as busy as some people.
But uh, yeah?
QOTD: Are they right? If not, who do you think the imposter is?
