“Are you also here to see it alone?” A voice from behind asked.
“No,” I took a deep breath and stared at the magnificent northern lights in the sky. “I’m actually waiting for someone.”
"Okay," He's doubting me, I can tell from his tone. He walked forward and stood next to me. "It's magical, isn't it?" he asked.
"Yeah," I answered softly. I didn't even realize that tears were falling from my eyes. Ironic how its magical light's supposed to make people feel hope and happiness. It's only breaking me more than I already am.
"Are you crying because you were mesmerized by it?" he paused, then he looked in my direction. "...or because of something else?" he added.
I slowly shook my head. "It's beautiful as fuck," I lied.

Months passed and we still casually talk to each other. The time difference is huge but I don't care about it. I'm used to sleeping late, and he is too.
I got home drunk from a party and my cousin sent me a screenshot of her confessing to her crush.
