~Masky not sleeping time!~

..............................

~MASKY'S POV~

I couldn't sleep. I looked around the almost pitch-black room. Toby's covers rose and fell over his sleeping form. Every few seconds, the pile twitched or ticked. Sometimes I could hear the crack of his neck or hand or whatever. Eventually, I got bored of sitting in the dark and stood up. The digital clock on the nightstand read 02:21. Sighing, I pulled on a t-shirt as I had been 'sleeping' in only shorts. Weirdly, it was warm in this forest. I grabbed my jacket and mask and put them on, flipping up the collar despite it already being up. Trying my best to be silent, I snuck out the room and downstairs. I sat on the stairs up to the house and lit another cigarette. I sat there for a while before I heard a crackle behind me. I snapped my head around.

"Hey, Masky, calm down." Toby said, sitting next to me. Unlike me, he didn't put a shirt on. He was quite muscled, despite his younger age. He smiled at me. "What's up, how come you're up?"

"Can't sleep." I shrugged. "Who could, in this shithole? Pfft, are you here by choice or..?" I side glanced at him to see him twitch.

Toby looked around nervously, looking up at the windows. Seeing nobody was around, he answered, but in a hushed tone. "Well, Master saved me, after I burned my house down...so I guess I have to stay here. I owe it."

"Hm." Was all I said. I flicked the butt of my cigarette away, stomping it into the dirt. I offered Toby one and he hesitated.

"I dunno..." Toby rubbed his neck, which snapped loudly.

"You don't have to." I said. I honestly hated this guy, but I was too tired to be annoyed. Toby nodded, taking the cigarette and holding his head out for the lighter, which I handed him. Warily, he lit it. He inhaled and coughed, pulling it away. "You'll get used to it, kid."

"Ashy." Toby laughed, still lightly coughing. He tried again, this time managing to puff it out. He handed me back my lighter and I pocketed it.

"So, how come you're up, huh?" I finally asked after a few minutes of silence. Toby nervously fiddled with the plaster on the side of his face.

"Um...I uh...had a nightmare..." Toby sounded embarrassed. He puffed out the last of the cigarette before copying what I done earlier.

"Heh. I can relate." I paused. Wait, this kid fucking works for that. I grimaced before standing up, pulling my mask down. "I'm off, I don't care what you do." I said, hardening my voice. Toby looked surprised, but didn't say anything. Again, he accidentally hit himself, this time on the head. I shook my head and walked inside, trying to be quiet. He didn't follow.

I closed the door lightly before pulling off my shirt, mask and jacket, throwing them over a desk chair. Tiredly, I climbed into bed, laying there for a few minutes. After around five minutes, I heard the door open and saw Toby cling into bed, ticking and twitching. Annoyed, I rolled over to face the wall. I heard him snore before falling asleep.

 ~Time Skip~

"Hey, hey! Masky!" I woke up, panting, a thin sheen of sweat covering my head. I swivelled my head around to see Toby, next to me and shaking my shoulders. I pushed him away, grumbling that I was fine. "Hey, you okay?" He asked, looking slightly worried.

"Why wouldn't I be?!" I snapped, glaring. He paused, looking sad.

"You...you were crying." He said. His expression then turned angry, dark fury blazing in his eyes. "I'm just checking you're okay, you bastard!" He punched my arm, making me grimace.

"Well you don't need to worry, you fucking asshole!" I yelled, shoving him back. Once again, his face changed, this time to happy.

"That was fun! Again!" He said, clapping his hands like a little kid. Blinking, I stared at him.

"We were just having a fucking argument?! Also, how didn't that hurt you?" I asked and he smiled, then shrugged.

"I'm bipolar, I dunno. I have this thing called..." Toby paused to think. "...Ooh! CIPA. I can't feel pain." He explained. "So, why were you crying? Nightmare?"

"Um..." I thought back to my nightmare. I couldn't remember. "Dunno. Can't remember." I shrugged, but pulled on my mask. Stretching, I stood up, grabbing some clothes, a red plaid shirt and blue jeans. I pulled them on before brushing my teeth. "Toby?" I asked, glancing back at him as I rinsed off my toothbrush.

"Yeah?" He looked up from his hands. They were bandaged but he was biting at them, trying to get them off.

"Why..? Why do you stay here? You could leave..." I whispered, knowing that Slenderman could hear.

"He would find me. He always finds me." Toby's eyes glazed over, scaring me. His expression turned strange, like it was another person.

"T-Toby?" I asked, the look on his face masking me scared. His face turned back to normal and he looked dizzy. His eyes showed fear for a second before he passed out. "Toby?!"

I ran over, shaking his shoulders. He sat up, eyes snapping open. "Masky!!" He sobbed. Then he stopped. And paused. Instead of the kid I saw in his eyes, he turned back into the proxy. Not the one with glazed eyes, but the one that was normally around.

          "What...the...fuck..."
