"P-please! L-leave me alone! I didn't do anything to you guys!" The 10-year-old Luz pleaded before being roughly held up by her shirt collar and long hair before getting shoved towards the wall as the group of older students surrounded and mocked her.
School had already ended for the day and students were out and about the school premises, waiting for their parents to pick them up. A small handful of them was witnessing the events happening in front of them but they were too scared to step in to stop it so they just did their best to ignore it.
"Yeah, right!" The bully who had his grip on Luz's collar bellowed. "We're not gonna let some freak like you walk around the school! That's like letting a pig go around a slaughterhouse without getting slaughtered! We're just doing our job!"
She squirmed under the bully's grip as her pleading eyes looked around for anyone to help her. But every time her eyes made contact with another pair, they'd quickly divert their attention elsewhere, overlooking her ever pleading look. Kids can be so cruel.
"Hey!" A voice called out, causing the bully to let go of his grip on Luz's collar. She fell to the ground and immediately backed away into the wall behind.
The gaggle of bullies froze, fearing it was a teacher or an adult catching them terrorizing another student as a student wouldn't dare interrupt them. But loo and behold, it was a student. She was a transfer student with short messy ash-blonde hair who looked to be around the same age as Luz.
"Oh, it's just you," the head honcho of the bullies said with disinterest. "Piss off, new kid! We're not interested in you!"
"Why don't you fuck off instead!" The new kid threatened.
"Or what?" The bully mocked as his lackeys joined in on the sneering. Instead of receiving a verbal answer, he received a physical answer in which was a punch in the face.
The bully stumbled back from the blow and fell to the ground as he held his bloodied nose in hysteria and disarray. Everyone stood still with their breath caught in their throat in stunned silence while the new kid stood her ground with the eyes of a python that's ready to attack its prey.
"What are you standing there for?! Get her!" Quickly getting out of their shock, the lackeys fumbled over themselves as they charged towards the new kid.
It was an amusing sight to behold. A bunch of 13-year-olds getting beaten by someone who was roughly half their size and age. Sure, a few of them landed some hits on her but she hit harder and seemed more experienced in a fight than them.
Soon enough, every single one of the bullies was on the ground, groaning in pain with bruises, cracked teeth, and bloodied noses. The new kid breathed heavily as she stood victorious with only a busted lip and a bleeding nose.
Luz was still on the ground with her back against the wall. She was still processing the scene in front of her. Had someone defended her? Had someone finally stepped in instead of watching from the sidelines? Her hazel-brown eyes met the new kid's bright blue eyes and she flinched under her intimidating glare. Or maybe she'll have a different scarier person to torment her.
"You!" The voice boomed louder than an exasperated parent at a Little League game. All of the students who were near turned their attention towards an extremely furious teacher. "To the principal's office now!"
The teacher grabbed the back of her shirt and harshly dragged her to the principal's office. The girl gave no resistance or protest as she glanced back to Luz before getting rudely shoved forward by the teacher.

It had been a week since the accident at school. The bullies had backed off from picking on Luz in fear of getting another beat up by the new kid. She heard that the new kid had been suspended from school due to initiating a fight and Luz felt bad for getting someone in trouble because of her.
Lost in her own thoughts, Luz accidentally bumped into someone, causing her to panic and profusely apologize. "I-I'm so sorry! I-I wasn't looking where I was going and-"
"It's alright." The person Luz had bumped into turned around. "Oh, it's you." Luz looked up and saw the same messy brown-haired transfer student from last week.
"You okay?" The new kid asked.
"Huh?" Luz said, dumbfounded by the sudden question.
"Last week. Are you okay?" She repeated once again with a calm expression.
"O-oh! I-I'm fine! N-nothing to it, y'know?" Luz nervously stumbled and stuttered over her words
The new kid let out a huff of amusement. "Good. If anyone's giving you a hard time again, you come and find me, okay? I'll beat the snot outta them."
"O-okay." With a nod, the new kid turned around and started walking away.
"Hey, wait!" Luz called out, stopping the new kid in her tracks. "What's your name? I'm Luz Noceda."
The new kid turned back around and smiled. "Amelia Hart. Nice to meet you."
