Paraphrasing the prompt:
There's this beautiful statue, and when it's soulmate touches it's hand, it becomes human again. It's marketed as a tourist attraction.
When someone takes an innocent selfie, they end up with a human being in their arms.Kalea didn't believe in soulmates. At all. It was stupid. All so stupid. Believing there was one person that would go perfectly with you? One person that you'd stay with for your entire life? Relationships just didn't work out long term. Her parents's divorce was proof of that.
Still, she let Cameron drag her to the statue. He said it was some kind of tourist attraction, and people said that if their soulmate touched their hand, they'll become human. He would've brought Nicholas, but they were busy with something. That was probably just an excuse to get out of being dragged around by an over-excited Cameron.
"Just slow down!" She groaned, trying to gain her footing on the cobblestones yet again.
Cameron rolled his eyes. "I told you that you shouldn't have worn heels. Yet you did." He sighed and slowed down for her to catch up. "It's only a few minutes more." He promised. "You excited?"
Kalea scoffed. "Excited? Are you for real? Oh sure, I'm so excited about some random dusty statue! So glad that you dragged me out here."
Cameron narrowed his eyes. "Well, I'm excited. The amount of mystery that surrounds this statue... It's like from a romantic comedy." His eyes lit up whenever he talked about the statue, or other romantic scenarios.
"Or some random prompt from Pinterest or Wattpad." Kalea added unhelpfully.
Cameron was about to retort, when the statue came into view. Kalea could see how Cameron had gotten excited. It was a pretty statue of a pretty cute girl. But Kalea would never admit that. While she was very open about being a raging homosexual, Cameron might use that information against her. So she just pretended to look disappointed.
"Is this it? Cant we just go back to the hotel and grab some coffee?" She suggested.
Cameron looked appalled. "Is this it?" He dragged her closer to the statue. She had to admit, it did look even better up close. "We have to take the selfie!"
"The selfie?"
Cameron rolled his eyes. "Yes, the selfie. Everyone takes a selfie while holding hands with the statue. It's common procedure." Like that made any sense, Kalea thought, but she stood next to the statue while he got his phone out.
"Say cheese!" He exclaimed, and Kalea grabbed the statue's hand.
She's not sure why she did it, to be honest. It was a last second decision. Maybe part of her hoped that maybe she had a soulmate. Or maybe it was from all the romantic movies that Cameron made them watch. But she did. She clenched the hand of the statue.
And ended up with a cute girl with bright finger hair and green eyes in her arms.
Kalea blinked a couple times. "What the-" She whispered under her breath, looking throughly confused.
The girl grinned at Kalea, apparently unphased. "Hey." She said with a grin, showing a small tooth gap.
Cameron looked just as shocked as Kalea, having got quite the shock. Once he'd regained his senses and composure, however, he grinned slyly.
"Still hate the statue?"
