Cyrus and Kimberley made their way down the halls hand in hand. They were silent as they both had much on their mind. He took the time to revel in the fresh memory of their moonlight kiss on the balcony. Then just before the grand staircase, a figure stepped out of the shadows startling them. Kimberley stiffened. Cyrus recognized Travis as he now stood in front of them barring the path, an unnatural disparity of pleasure and contempt on his face. Cyrus felt exposed, but he stepped in front of Kimberley instinctively. "What do you want Travis," Kimberley said sounding annoyed. He looked at her contemptibly. "I want you to shut the heck up," he said. Kimberley stepped back slightly some of her bravery had evaporated. Cyrus looked at Travis challengingly and said, "You don't get to talk to Kimberley like that. Not while I'm around." Travis grinned. Cyrus knew this was exactly what Travis wanted but, there was no way was going to let someone talk to Kimberley like that in front of him. Kimberley was now looking scared fear flickering in her eyes as they darted down the halls looking for anyone who could help. Travis laughed maliciously. "No one's helping you this time, and I know you don't have your stun gun." He struck out with a blur of speed. Cyrus barely moved his head out of the way in time as Travis's fist swung out in an arc. Cyrus took a step back. As Travis moved forward in a charge Cyrus lunged out with his right foot hitting him square in the chest knocking Travis backward as he fell over.

Travis got back up looking shocked but furious. He lunged at Cyrus again punching him in the ribs. Cyrus coughed and tried to block a second punch to the ribs as he backed up swinging with his right arm, but Travis parried the blow with his left arm. Kimberley was now hitting Travis's back with her fists. Travis hardly noticed. Cyrus struggled to keep him away from his face. Then Cyrus saw Kimberley approach Travis again. This time she had a heavy solid brass candlestick from on top of the low side cabinet table in her hand. She hit him square in the back of the neck with the base of it. Travis doubled over grabbing his neck in agony. He recovered quicker than Cyrus thought he would and he got ready for the retaliation. Instead, Travis turned, still in a kneeling position, and shoved Kimberley into the cabinet knocking her small frame into it harshly. Kimberley cried out before falling to the floor limply as she fell unconscious. Travis now turned to face Cyrus as he attempted to stand up. Cyrus's blood was now boiling. Travis still had one knee on the ground as he was attempting to stand up. Cyrus kneed Travis in the face knocking him over. Travis got back up again his nose bloody now. Travis shook his head no doubt trying to clear it.

"It was just supposed to be you," Travis said with a threatening growl, "But now it's personal. When I'm done with you Kimberley is going in the hurt locker." Then he grinned and laughed with malice before speaking quietly. "Then I'm going to find that sweet little sister of yours," he whistled with a wicked grin. Cyrus felt his ears ringing as his rage was building insurmountably. "Over my dead body," Cyrus growled with rage. Travis swung at Cyrus but he blocked. Then Travis kicked hard but Cyrus's knee was already in a position to block. Cyrus swung rapidly with his right fist at the same time striking the side of Travis's face. He staggered back then tried to charge Cyrus again. Cyrus sidestepped and threw Travis face-first into the solid oak cabinet the candlestick holders had been on. Travis crashed into it with a thud, his own momentum used against him.  Travis got up more slowly this time. He was shaking his head to clear it again. "I'm gonna enjoy breaking your sister," he said with a ragged laugh. Cyrus moved towards Travis, but at the last second, he stopped just short of him as Travis swung out hard where Cyrus's face would have been. Travis was caught off balance as Cyrus punched him hard in the face. Then Cyrus kicked him square in the chest. Travis flew back hitting the oak cabinet with a thud. This time Travis was out cold. Breathing hard Cyrus turned to see if Kimberley was all right. She was just getting up shaking her head. "Wha...what happened?" she said still stunned. He put his hand out to help her up as she pulled on his arm. Cyrus winced in pain as his ribs screamed in protest.
